WHO IS DOUG ROSENCRANS?

With over a decade of leadership experience at 7-Eleven, Doug Rosencrans took on
his current position as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
in May 2022. Working at the world’s largest convenience store, he oversees more
than 7,400 franchised locations.

Doug has the power and responsibility to end the animal abuse in 7-Eleven’s
supply chain. So why won’t he?

In 2016, 7-Eleven committed to ending its use of eggs that come from hens kept
in tiny, filthy cages and agreed to transition the company over to 100%
cage-free eggs by 2025. This commitment was similar to those made by other
companies over the years—now 400+ companies in the US have commitments to
transition to the use of solely cage-free eggs.

7-Eleven, like all of those companies, benefited from the positive PR that comes
with such an announcement, receiving praise from customers, news outlets, and
animal protection groups. Since that time, 7-Eleven removed its 100% cage-free
egg policy from its website without informing its customers. This lack of
accountability and transparency is unacceptable.

As consumers—as well as 7-Eleven’s own leaders—know, making a promise is not the
same as fulfilling a policy.

Caged egg-laying hens spend their lives crammed together in small, filthy, and
barren wire cages. They cannot dust-bathe or express most of their other natural
behaviors. Often, they suffer from broken bones and mental anguish. Each hen is
unable to even spread her own wings, and has the space about the size of an iPad
on which to live her entire, miserable life. Is supporting cages really how
7-Eleven expects to “create positive change?”

Chickens are social, intelligent animals who should not be forced to live in
such horrifying conditions. And companies like 7-Eleven should not go back on
their commitments, especially when they affect the lives of so many animals.

Will Doug choose to do the right thing and encourage his fellow leadership to
republish the company’s commitment to end animal cruelty, or will he continue to
ignore the public promise 7-Eleven made?

Click “Take Action” below to tell Doug Rosencrans that consumers demand more and
animals deserve better; now is the time to demonstrate true leadership by
showing the world that 7-Eleven sticks to its word.
