THE YEAR OF THE COWBOY

Celebrating 100 years of Frank Eaton's legacy
Hold on to your cowboy hats as we gear up to honor Eaton, Pete and 100 years of
Cowboy history with a series of special events, exclusive memorabilia and more.
A special tradition was born in the early 1920s when Oklahoma State University
(then Oklahoma A&M College) began searching for a new mascot. The true roots of
Pistol Pete date back to a century ago, when the character originated from
legendary cowboy Frank B. Eaton. Since then, Pistol Pete has continued to serve
as a widely recognized symbol of our bright and welcoming OSU spirit.

LIVING THE CODE

with President Kayse Shrum
Living the Code is a special video series presented by Dr. Shrum which showcases
the stories of OSU students, faculty, staff, alumni and stakeholders who embody
the Cowboy Code.
The latest episode of the series features OSU Police Chief Leon Jones. Since
joining the department in 1994, Jones has made it his mission to build a better
relationship with the campus community. He has served in many impactful roles
over the years and took over as chief in August 2017, becoming the first African
American to hold the position.
