HIGH PERFORMANCE API'S FOR SYSTEM Z

WORK WITH MAINFRAME FILES & DATASETS THE SAME WAY YOU WOULD WITH DISTRIBUTED
DATA.

WE PROVIDE ACCESS TO MAINFRAME DATASETS AND SERVICES VIA A HIGH-PERFORMANCE DATA
ACCESS LAYER THAT INTERFACES NATIVELY WITH Z/OS ASSETS IN REAL-TIME.

WE ARE NOT A RESTFUL WRAPPER OVER EXISTING BUSINESS LOGIC OR A GENERIC SQL
WRAPPER OVER MAINFRAME DATA.

ZDATA SERVICE

ZDATA IS PURPOSE BUILT TO AUTOMATE MAINFRAME MIGRATION.

ZDATA IS AN API SERVICE DESIGNED FOR WORKING WITH MAINFRAME DATA SOURCES. ZDATA
INTERFACES NATIVELY WITH IBM Z DATA ASSETS IN REAL-TIME AND EMPOWERS A HUGE
RANGE OF DATA-CENTRIC ACTIVITIES SUCH AS DATA DISCOVERY, DATA INTEGRATION, DATA
MIGRATION, BA/BI, AND OPEN BANKING.

AVAILABLE ZDATA FUNCTIONS INCLUDE LIST (USED FOR DATA DISCOVERY) AND READ (USED
FOR DATA UNLOADS). THE DATA UNLOAD FUNCTION SUPPORTS TWO RESPONSE MODELS:

 * RESPONSE DATA IN MEMORY VIA JSON OBJECT (VIRTUALIZATION) FOR DATA
   TRANSFORMATION, MASKING, ANALYTICS, ETC; AND
 * DATA TRANSFER OPTION FOR DIRECT UNLOADS OFF MAINFRAME (CSV FILES, TEXT, OR
   BINARY FILES).

FOR UPDATE REFER TO THE API'S SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE.

ZDATA IS AN API SERVICE DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MAINFRAME DATA DISCOVERY &
MIGRATION

DEPLOYMENT

WE HAVE TWO OPTIONS FOR API DEPLOYMENT

OUR INTERACTIVE ADAPTOR UTILISES A PROPRIETARY ‘NO INSTALL’ TECHNOLOGY. IT
ALLOWS MAINFRAME DATA AND SERVICES TO BE CONSUMED WITHOUT REQUIRING ANY CODE TO
BE PHYSICALLY (OR PERMANENTLY) INSTALLED ON THE MAINFRAME. IA IS IDEAL WHEN
MAINFRAME DATA REQUIREMENTS ARE ‘ON DEMAND’. IA ALSO USEFUL WHEN TRIALLING THE
API’S FOR EITHER A PROOF OF CONCEPT OR PILOT PROJECTS.

OUR RUNTIME ADAPTOR PROVIDES A LIGHTWEIGHT (<1MB) HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINE THAT
INTERFACES NATIVELY WITH MAINFRAME Z/OS ASSETS. THE RTA IS INSTALLED ON THE
MAINFRAME AND RUNS AS A STARTED TASK (STC). IT PROVIDES 24/7 DATA ACCESS AND
OPERATES UNDER THE MAINFRAMES EXISTING SECURITY FRAMEWORK.

USE CASES

DATA COMPLIANCE IN MAINFRAME ENVIRONMENTS

SECTOR: BANKING & FINANCE

We collaborated with Enov8 to augment the capabilities of their Data Compliance
Suite (DCS). DCS is a DataOps platform focused on data compliance and test data
management. A key capability of DCS is automated data profiling, masking and
validation (PMV). Our connectors enable API access to several mainframe data
sources. When these API’s are integrated with DCS, the result is a DataOps
platform capable of undertaking PMV on a range of previously unreadable
mainframe data sources. To demonstrate this augmented DCS capability, we
recently undertook a Pilot Project with a large regulated financial institution.
Automating PMV in mainframe environments represents a significant leap forwards
in terms of meeting local and international data privacy legislation such as
APRA’s CPS 234 or the EU’s GDPR Article 32.

MIGRATE MAINFRAME WORKLOADS TO THE CLOUD

SECTOR: VARIOUS

Heirloom & Mainframe Cloud became partners in July 2019. Heirloom is the
industry's leading solution for automatically refactoring mainframe workloads as
100% cloud-native Java applications. By integrating our zData service with the
Heirloom solution we are automating the migration of mainframe assets and data
to the cloud with 'one' click. This unique offering will significantly reduce
the time required to expedite mainframe migration projects.

EXPOSING MAINFRAME DB2 DATA

SECTOR: VARIOUS

Mainframe Cloud was commissioned to expose Db2 data for a DXC customer in the
insurance sector. The exposed data will enable the insurer's customers to view
their transaction data via an online web portal. The project highlights
Mainframe Cloud's ability to connect natively to mainframe Db2 data and rapidly
prototype new functionality in modern web code. The project was 5 weeks duration
and is currently being deployed into production. Click on the DXC logo to view
the case study.

MAINFRAME DATA MIGRATION

SECTOR: VARIOUS

Mainframe Cloud's RunTime Adaptor was integrated with Pentaho (an ETL solution
from Hitachi Vantara) to facilitate ingestion of Db2 data from System z
mainframes. The RunTime Adaptor is a proprietary web service API that exposes
several mainframe sub-systems and data sources as RESTful. Integration with
Pentaho facilitates automated migration of mainframe Db2 data to Hadoop or any
other mid-tier database at scale with minimal overhead.
