Education for All – This place was formerly a dense forest with different natural resources. People from nearby towns and barangay get the raw materials they use in furniture-making in agriculture, in building their houses, and for medical purposes from here. The name Alapan was derived from the shortened Tagalog word “Pinangangalapan” which means “a place where things are procured”. In 1822 people began to settle in the area. MISSION | EDUCATION FOR ALL We dream of Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the nation. As a learner-centered public institution, the Department of Education continuously improves itself to better serve its stakeholders. VISION | EDUCATION FOR ALL To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic education where: Students learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating environment. PEER TEACHING (READING PAL) Perhaps the most pressing challenges the school faces are that of ensuring that all learners become competent readers. Learners who experienced problems in reading quickly fall behind their more skilled classmates in their ability to decode and comprehend text. Since reading is one of the priority improvement areas in the Scool Improvement Plan Alapan I Elementary School adapts the practice of peer teaching or having a reading pal. The pairing of higher and lower-achieving learners is useful in developing fluency in reading. One can act as a tutor and the other is a tutee. Both of them can learn together and build social skills as well. They do these before the class starts or during their reading time while utilizing the adorable reading corners put up by the teachers. By including traditional instruction strategies along with peer teaching, teachers can promote accessible and successful learning for all.
