MAKITA 40V MAX XGT COUPLE SHAFT OFFERS GAS REPLACEMENT POWER ON A SINGLE BATTERY

Makita XGT tools and equipment promise higher performance and it’s a really big
deal for the lawn care side of their business. The Makita 40V max XGT Couple
Shaft attachment system targets multi-tool versatility with battery-powered
benefits.





MAKITA 40V MAX XGT COUPLE SHAFT ATTACHMENT SYSTEM | THE BIG DEAL

There are a couple of big talking points now that Makita’s Couple Shaft is
entering the XGT platform. The first is performance. Using one of Makita’s own
brushless motors, it’s capable of producing the same power as a 30cc gas engine.
To put that in a little more perspective, Makita’s MM4 4-stroke Couple Shaft
power head has a 25.4cc engine on it. So no matter which of Makita’s 14
attachments you choose to go with, there’s plenty of power to run it.



The other major benefit is that it uses a single 40V max XGT battery. While the
18V X2 (36V) model has the voltage, it requires two batteries to run, adding
some additional weight.





If you want to take the battery weight off of the tool altogether, this model is
compatible with Makita’s ConnectX 1200Wh battery backpack system using an
adapter.


ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

 * Optionally comes with 17-inch string trimmer attachment (with or without
   battery and charger)
 * Lever-style locking system for attachments
 * Variable speed trigger with three mode settings and reverse
 * Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) with IPX4 ingress rating
 * Dual-fan XGT Rapid Charger included in kit charges the 4.0Ah battery in 45
   minutes

MAKITA 40V MAX XGT COUPLE SHAFT ATTACHMENT SYSTEM PRICE

If you just want the power head, the Makita GUX01Z runs $319. However, it’s just
$40 more to go ahead and get the 17-inch string trimmer attachment ($359 total)
and that’s what we recommend if you’re new to the Couple Shaft system.

There’s also a full string trimmer kit with a 4.0Ah battery and charger. At the
time we’re writing, we don’t have an official retail price, so keep your eyes
open for the GUX01JM1X1 at your favorite Makita retailer for it to show up.
