WRC 第9戦ラリー・フィンランド デイ4 エバンスが2年ぶり2回目のラリー・フィンランド優勝を飾る
勝田は激戦を制し今季最上位の総合3位を獲得

8月6日（日）、2023年FIA世界ラリー選手権(WRC)第9戦「ラリー・フィンランド」の最終日デイ4がユバスキュラのサービスパークを起点に行われ、TOYOTA
GAZOO Racing World Rally Teamのエルフィン・エバンス／スコット・マーティン組(GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID
33号車)が優勝。勝田貴元／アーロン・ジョンストン組(18号車)が総合3位を、スポット出場のヤリ-マティ・ラトバラ／ユホ・ハンニネン組(97号車)が総合5位を獲得しました。

33号車（エルフィン・エバンス、スコット・マーティン）

ラリー・フィンランドの最終日は、前日と同様サービスパークの南西エリアが戦いの舞台となり、「モクシ-サーロイネン」と「ヒモス-ヤムサ」という2本のステージを、ミッドデイサービスを挟むことなく各2回走行。4本のステージの合計距離は51.64kmでした。最終日は早朝から雲間に青空が見えるなど、久々に降雨のない爽やかな一日に。気温も23度前後まで上昇しました。それでも、依然湿り気を帯びた路面も多く残り、最後まで気の抜けないコンディションでの戦いとなりました。

前日のデイ2で、総合2位のティエリー・ヌービル（ヒョンデ）に対する差を32.1秒まで拡げた首位エバンスは、最終日も好調を維持。オープニングステージのSS20を制し、差を33.7秒に拡げました。続くSS21では、総合3位につける勝田が今大会3回目となるベストタイムを記録。表彰台を争う総合4位テーム・スニネンとの差を7.2秒に拡げて1ループ目を終えました。2ループ目の1本目、SS21ではエバンスがベストタイムでヌービルとの差は38.2秒に。一方、勝田は3番手タイムのスニネンと0.9秒差の4番手タイムで、差は6.3秒と僅かに縮まりました。そして、今大会最後の勝負の場となったパワーステージのSS22「ヒモス-ヤムサ2」では、エバンスが今大会10回目のベストタイムでパーフェクトウィン。エバンスにとっては第4戦クロアチア・ラリー以来となる今シーズン2勝目、キャリア7回目の優勝でした。また、ラリー・フィンランドでの優勝は、2021年大会以来2回目となります。エバンスはパワーステージを制したことで5ポイントのボーナスを加算し、ドライバー選手権では2位と順位は変わらずも、前日リタイアした選手権首位のロバンペラとの差を、25ポイントに縮めました。

一方、勝田は最終のパワーステージで3番手タイムのスニネンと1.9秒差の4番手タイムを記録。4.3秒でリードを守り、総合3位を獲得しました。勝田の表彰台フィニッシュは、昨年の最終戦ラリー・ジャパン以来となります。なお、チームはエバンスと勝田が獲得したポイントにより、マニュファクチャラー選手権におけるリードを67ポイントに拡げました。また、2019年以来のラリー・フィンランド出場となったラトバラは、最終日も大勢のファンの声援を受けながら安定した走りを続け、総合5位でラリーを終えました。

<<豊田 章男 (TGR-WRTチーム代表代行として)>>
ラリーフィンランドではチーム代表代行として4つの仕事をさせてもらいました。1つ目は”チームに声をかけてまわる”こと。かけた言葉は朝の「おはよう」と3つの合言葉…「One
team」「Never give up」「We hate to
lose」。そして、今回教えてもらったフィンランドの言葉「SISU」だけです。たまにしか会えない私でも、これらの言葉があれば心が通じ合えるのが我々のチームです。コースオフして戻ってきたカッレに「Never
give up !」と声をかければ「Yeah ! We hate to lose
!」と返してくれます。リタイアが決まったカッレは、そのあと貴元に色々なアドバイスをしてくれていました。まさに「One
team」です。こんな素敵なチームを築いてくれているヤリ-マティに改めて感謝します。Amazing Weekをありがとう！

2つ目の仕事は”SSでドライバーたちを”見守る”こと。私が見守っていると感じた貴元は、気合いを入れてステージトップタイムをマークしてくれました。タイムへの貢献に繋がったようでよかったです。おかげで念願だった「貴元と一緒に表彰台」も叶えることができました。貴元、表彰台おめでとう！

3つ目の仕事はチーム代表としてインタビューに答えること。SSやサービスで数々のインタビューに応じました。トミ（マキネン）やヤリ-マティは我々トヨタのために、いつもこんな大変な仕事をしてくれていたんだと改めて感謝しました。

最後の4つ目は”表彰台に立つ”という仕事です。体中がベタベタになってしまう一番”やりたくない仕事”でしたが、本当に嬉しい経験でした。こんな素敵な経験をさせてくれたエルフィンとスコットに心から感謝します。表彰台でも言ったけどもう一度…

ベタベタになるのはイヤですが、”ぜひもう一度”、”できることなら日本で”このAmazingな仕事をやらせてもらえれば嬉しいです。今回、カッレとヨンネには走り切らせてあげられず申し訳なかったけど、次は君たちともベタベタになれればと思っています。今回、代表代行の仕事をさせてもらい、チームメンバーそれぞれが本当に大変な仕事をやってくれていることを実感し、みんなに感謝しました。

残り4戦は再びヤリ-マティがチーム代表を担っていきます。引き続き「One team」「Never give up」「We hate to
lose」そして「SISU」を合言葉にチームメンバー全員で戦っていきましょう！　みんな、よろしく頼みます！

我々が目指すのはドライバーファーストのチームです。しかし、チーム代表のヤリ-マティが知っているクルマは今までヤリスWRCだけでした。ドライバーたちが乗っているGR
YARIS Rally1 HYBRIDには乗っていません。チャンスがあればGR YARIS Rally1
HYBRIDをヤリ-マティにドライブしてもらいたいとずっと考えていました。やっとそれが叶い、ヤリ-マティはドライバー仲間のユホと共に全てのステージを走り切ってくれました。彼らはずっと笑顔で走っているように見えました。しかし、きっとそうじゃない瞬間もあったはずです。ドライバーがずっと笑顔で気持ちよく走れるクルマを、これからもヤリ-マティ達と一緒につくっていきたいと思います。

<<エルフィン・エバンス (GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID 33号車)>>
我々にとって素晴らしい週末になり、このラリーで2回目の優勝を飾ることができたので特別な気分です。フィンランドは大好きなラリーのひとつですし、ユバスキュラにファクトリーを構えるチームにとってはホームラリーでもあります。また、この週末に章男さんと一緒に優勝し、彼や貴元と一緒に表彰台に立てたのも特別なことです。この道でこのクルマを走らせるのは素晴らしい経験で、運転を楽しむことができましたし、ラリー序盤からとてもいいフィーリングで走ることができました。金曜日にカッレが戦列を去ったのは残念でしたが、土曜日に向けて少しずつセットアップを進めることができ、それが大きな自信に繋がりました。全てのことが上手く行き、ステージのタイムも自然に上がって行きました。チャンピオンシップの面でもポジティブな週末になり、カッレとのポイント差を以前よりも少し縮めることができました。

<<勝田 貴元 (GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID 18号車)>>
自分にとって第二のホームイベントである、ラリー・フィンランドで表彰台に立つことができて本当に嬉しいです。自分にとっても、チームにとっても、そして章男さんにとっても大きな意味を持つことです。章男さんは僕に大きなエネルギーとモチベーションを与えてくれて、それがテーム（スニネン）との激しいバトルを続ける中で助けになりました。テームは本当にいい仕事をしていたので、決して簡単ではありませんでしたが、コンディションがトリッキーだった土曜日の最後にギャップを築くことができたので、最終日のストレスは少し軽減されました。ラリー・エストニアの後、チームのエンジニアたちと一緒に、どこを改善すればいいかを一生懸命分析し、その結果、金曜日の朝からいいパフォーマンスを発揮することができました。また、テストの時にフィンランドの道を上手く走るためのアドバイスをくれた、カッレにも感謝しなければなりません。

<<ヤリ-マティ・ラトバラ (GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID 97号車)>>
このクルマで走るのは本当に楽しく、週末は驚きと喜びの連続でした。このような素晴らしいチャンスを与えてくれた章男さんとチームに感謝します。一生忘れられない、本当に驚異的な体験でした。結果を考えることなく、リラックスしてドライブすることなんて、なかなかできないことです。難しいコンディションの中でも自分たちのリズムで走ることができましたし、最終的に総合5位を獲得し、パワーステージでポイントを獲得できたのは素晴らしいことです。また、エルフィンが表彰台の頂点に立ち、貴元が総合3位に入ったのも特別なことですし、本当に嬉しく思います。

<<次回のイベント情報>>
WRC次戦は、9月7日（木）から10日（日）にかけて、ギリシャで開催される第10戦「アクロポリス・ラリー・ギリシャ」です。2021年にWRCのシリーズに復帰したこのイベントは、1951年に初めて開催され、WRC初年度の1973年からシリーズの一戦に組み込まれた伝統的なグラベル（未舗装路）ラリーです。路面はここ2戦のスムースでフラットなグラベルから一変。大きな石が転がる山岳ステージはかなり路面が荒れているところも多く、通常は気温もかなり高いため、クルマにもタイヤにも選手にも厳しい「ラフグラベル・ラリー」として知られています。
