[Patreon] Happy 2022 Valentine`s! Fundraising Post
posted on 23.02.2022 04:22 by CDB-Man

HAPPY 2022 VALENTINE'S!

Valentine's has come and gone, with White Day soon arriving. This marks the 4th
year milestone since we first reached out to the AniDB community for assistance,
back in December 2017. We are grateful for all the community support that keeps
AniDB alive.

With that, we’re pleased to announce our 2022 Valentine's fundraising post, and
the winner of our 2022 Valentine's Patreon banner contest; congratulations
zyon666 for an excellent banner!
We hope that everyone had an enjoyable Valentine's Day, and makes the most of
the upcoming White Day if you participate!

This time, AniDB was able to fund around 10 months from our last fundraising
post in April 2021.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone subscribed to our Patreon campaign before this post should be charged on
01-Mar-2022 for your contribution to AniDB. We try hard to be as frugal as
possible with your assistance, and try to avoid any build-up of excess outside
of our set emergency fund. Because of this, our next fundraising post will
likely not need to be until the end of 2022. Refer to our Donations page for
details. Thank you once again for your support and keeping us running!

blazerBlazers and sport coats are two similar types of jacket. Both have a
similar cut and length to a business suit jacket/blazer/coat and both generally
have lapels, but blazers / sport coats are cut more casually. Stylistically,
blazers and sport coats are often uniform garments, such as for airlines,
schools, and yachting and rowing clubs., brown hairThe character has brown
hair., crew socksCrew socks are socks that go up to around the mid point of the
lower leg, and trouser socks are socks that go up to around three-fourths of the
lower leg; this coincides with the mid-calf, the part of the calf with the
largest circumference., fair skinFair skin is a naturally occurring range of
skin colour that is lighter than the average for humans, but not light enough to
be considered white. Ethnically speaking, a reasonable real life metric for fair
skin is the skin colour of people normally said to be "white"., humanModern
humans are the only extant members of the subtribe Hominina. Together with
chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans, they are part of the family Hominidae.
Terrestrial animals, humans are characterized by their erect posture and bipedal
locomotion; high manual dexterity and heavy tool use compared to other animals;
open-ended and complex language use compared to other animal communications;
larger, more complex brains than other animals; and highly advanced and
organized societies., JapaneseA character originating from the island nation of
Japan., ribbon tieA ribbon tie is a ribbon used to tie the collar of a shirt,
blouse, or other clothing top. This means that the ribbon, with or without a bow
loop, is tying a collar that is cut close to the neck (i.e. not a low-cut
collar); otherwise, the ribbon is just a common case of ribbons on clothes.
Please see the full description for more detailed instructions on when to apply
or not apply this tag., school uniformA type of uniform worn in Japanese schools
(called "seifuku" in Japanese), generally high school age or younger. They can
vary considerably; commonly, females will wear a sailor uniform (modelled off
the British Royal Navy uniforms in 1920) and males will often wear a "gakuran",
which is a dark button-up uniform modelled off Prussian army uniforms. But
expect to see a substantial amount of variety., short hairShort hair is hair
from (but not including) bald, up to (but not including) shoulder-length hair.
This hair length is what one would typically, though not always, see on most
males. Short hair includes hair that goes no more than a centimetre or two
beyond the chin; anything longer is shoulder-length., skirtA skirt is a tube- or
cone-shaped piece of clothing that hangs from the waist and covers the legs
partially or fully. Skirts are often seen as garments for women, but exceptions
exist. In anime, they`re almost always worn by women, generally as school
uniform or workplace garments, and a man with one will likely be cross-dressing.
Skirts that go below the knee are usually associated with strict rules and at
times with winter, though even in winter anime schoolgirls in miniskirts can be
found., studentA student or pupil is a learner, or someone who attends an
educational institution. The may be understood to mean only those enrolled in
some sort of educational institution, but, in its widest use, it applies to
anyone who is learning, including mid-career adults who are taking vocational
education or returning to university, or younger researchers or artists learning
from a more experienced colleague and mentor.

conspiracyThe conspiracy thriller (or paranoid thriller) is a sub-genre of the
thriller which flourished in the 1970s in the US (and was echoed in other parts
of the world) in the wake of a number of high-profile scandals and controversies
(most notably Vietnam, the assassination of President Kennedy, Chappaquiddick
and Watergate), and which exposed what many people regarded as the clandestine
machinations and conspiracies beneath the orderly fabric of political life. The
protagonists of conspiracy thrillers are often journalists or amateur
investigators who find themselves (often inadvertently) pulling on a small
thread which unravels a vast conspiracy that ultimately goes "all the way to the
top"., militaryThe military, also known as the armed forces, are forces
authorized and legally entitled to use deadly force so as to support the
interests of the state and its citizens. The task of the military is usually
defined as defence of the state and its citizens and the prosecution of war
against foreign powers. The military may also have additional functions within a
society, including construction, emergency services, social ceremonies, and
guarding critical areas., novelA novel is a relatively long work of narrative
fiction, normally written in prose form, and which is typically published as a
book. Manga, comics, or visual novels do not fit this description and are not
considered novels; including a small number of illustrations, however, is still
permissible, which means that light novels are considered novels., science

different in the future when we are more technologically advanced; due to either
our own achievements or having met with other civilizations whom we have learned
from., seinenSeinen, literally "young man", is one of the main demographic
classifications applied to manga, and, by extension, to anime, especially
manga-based ones. As the name implies, seinen works are marketed primarily to an
audience of young men; the age range commonly understood to be the target of
such works goes roughly from 17 to somewhere in the 40s., space travelSpace
Travel usually refers going to space or travelling there with or without a
spacecraft. There are different forms of space travel like Interplanetary
travel, Interstellar travel or Intergalactic travel. Since it isn`t possible to
travel faster than light, most anime series involve some sort "sub-space travel
mechanism" as a way to travel faster than light., violenceViolence is the use of
physical force against oneself or another entity, compelling action against
one`s will on pain of being hurt.

It can be something comparatively non-intrusive as a power-up drug, a form of
machine implantation or cyberization ("SAC Solid State Society"), or outright -
possibly atrocious - genetic manipulation ("Ao no 6-gou"). Plot-wise enhanced
protagonists in anime usually have to pay a price for their enhancements, be it
physical or mental., magicMagic is the art of purportedly manipulating aspects

resourceful, but essentially ordinary heroes are pitted against villains
determined to destroy them, their country, or the stability of the free world.
The hero of a typical thriller faces danger alone or in the company of a small
band of companions. The protagonist may be a law enforcement agent, a
journalist, or a soldier, but typically he or she is cut off from the resources
of "their" organization., time travelIn time travel anime characters are
transported through time either figuratively or literally to find themselves
either in the past or the future, visual novelThe two terms are similar yet
different, however, the fact that they look and `feel` the same outweighs the
technical differences. For clarification, visual novels are considered a
sub-genre of adventure games and the term does not cover simulations.
