SOME QUESTIONS ON VEEAM BACKUP FOR O365
Hi, we are planning to use Veeam backup for our 0365 in Azure. We have a few
questions and will be grateful if get some suggestions / answers:
For Microsoft Blob repository - what storage account replication is supported
(LRS/GRS/ZRS etc)?
Should soft delete be enabled or disabled on the storage account?
How does backup data get into the storage account from Office 365 - Is is
because its a known trusted source (M365 API) for example?
Can we use a private IP to manage the Veeam 0365 appliance?

SOCKET TO VUL MIGRATION LICENSE PART NUMBERS
Hi
Need the part numbers for the following licenses:
Currently using Veeam Backup Essentials with 4 socket licenses.
The essentials is geared for SMB and I think it max for 6 socket.
Question:
1) Renewal license part numbers for 1,3,5 year for socket license ( 4 socket)
Veeam Backup Essentials
2) License part number if we are planning to upgrade from 4 socket Veeam
Essentials license to VUL 10 VMs license. I think they come in 5 pack. So
looking for Qty 2. These VUL should be for Veeam essentials only.
Please let me know the part numbers for the above two questions. Please don't
refer to reseller as they have no clue. Once I get the part numbers from you I
know they are correct so I can give to my reseller.

Why do you always need part numbers ??
Part numbers & SKUs would differ from location and/or vendors even ?
If you think your current vendor is clueless, then probably you should change
vendors....seek out the vendors that are recommended by the software....not
use those vendors just coz they sell that product.

NEED ADVICE - BACKING UP SHAREPOINT FILES TO LOCAL OR AWS
Right. We have migrated our File Sever to SharePoint. Predecessor did not
consider backups; I am trying to fix that quickly. Veeam Backup for Office 365
looks like the correct solution. But it does not include storage. So I am
trying to quickly figure that out. Unfortunately, the sales guy I talked to
(initial conversation) was of zero help. He just wanted to point to the web
page and move on. In my ignorance, I am looking for some basic human help..
suggestions...
One option for storage would be "local." Cool. I can spin up a windows box.
But what do I need to achieve? Is the connection SFTP? Or is their a local
client I can install to make this easy?
The other option would be something in AWS. Totally clueless on what that would
look like, cost, or how I would set this up.
To be clear, this is intended to be a regular backup for Cold Storage. I do not
see us accessing this data, other than through regular test and some sort of
unlikely DR scenario. So it need not be fast or expensive storage
Any thoughts or suggestions? TY in advance.

You can do either of these options with Veeam Backup for Office 365. It is
storage agnostic allowing you to choose the best fit for your needs. When it
comes to storing data in AWS, I believe there are some cost calculators out
there for you to use.
When setting up your repositories, be sure to run through the user guide.
This will be able to provide you with all the information you need.
In my lab environment, I have backups being stored on a local directory on
the backup server and some backups going to Azure.

I have a single CPU license of Backup and Replication Standard.
What license do I need in order to use Veeam to send some of those backups to S3
or Wasabi?

REPEATED FAILURE OF VM BACKUPS TO IOSAFE NAS
Hardware -
Dell Poweredge R540, 64 GB of RAM, Intel Xeon Silver 4210 CPU (1 socket)
Iosafe NAS w/ 4TB of space
Connected via gigabit ethernet - internal network transfer rates of @950 per
second
Issue: After the upgrade to the latest release of the community edition, things
went sideways. I have 4 VMs running on this host, and all 4 produce the same
error - Sometimes the job fails at 15%, sometimes it fails at 97% - but it
always fails.
I have installed all available MS updates, Check Disk produces no errors on
either the VM Host or the NAS, SMART reporting and all other indicators show
that all drives are good on VM Host and NAS. I restarted the VM Host,
Reinstalled the Veeam software, recreated repositories, deleted shared folders
from the NAS (that veeam backs up to) and created new ones. Using the same
credentials that veeam uses to access the VMs on the VM host and the NAS - I am
able to manually copy the virtual hard disk drives from the VM to the NAS
without any issues. Thinking that the issue is related to the VMs, I tried
backing them up one by one - same result, same failure logged in the output
window. I do have 2012 standard VM host on premises that is running the same
version of Veeam - backing up to a different folder on the NAS and it doesn't
have any issues. (Back up windows are 5 hours apart, the 2012 VM Host starts at
9pm and is usually done by 10pm).

WINDOWS AGENT LICENSING PER ENDPOINT?
I have a 2 socket perpetual for B&R for some time. I use the free license of
agent on some workstations and was wondering about the paid license. Will it
allow for multiple job configs on a single endpoint? For example, a laptop may
be in or out of the office and the target media would change accordingly. If
"office backup" fails, then a 2nd job for "home backup" would run. Maybe if
that fails, a "field backup" would run as a last chance to a cloud target? You
get the point.
So, what functionality do you get with the paid agent besides remote management
from the console? And what's the cost? I'm really hoping it's not a minimum
$80 * 5 = $400 a year to get one endpoint running like this.

At some point, if you kept your subscription current, Veeam gave you a few
instance licenses to use and try. You can buy more, but these could be
applied to use the agent.
For the laptop, there has been some changes on how to deal with things like
laptops out of the office. Too much to go into hear. As for storage, you
might want to look into scale-out backup repository.
