FOR MN HOUSE 52B

TOGETHER, WE CAN CREATE A BETTER TOMORROW

WHY I'M RUNNING

I am running for House District 52B to restore fiscal responsibility, enhance
educational outcomes, and ensure the safety of our communities in Minnesota. Our
state government’s runaway spending is out of control. It’s time we implemented
measures to address the waste & fraud that is rampant in our state’s government.
This needs to be done to balance our budget and reduce the tax burden on
hardworking Minnesotan families. Additionally, the future of our children is at
stake. I am committed to improving the quality of education in School Districts
196 and 197 by promoting accountability and ensuring that our schools are
equipped to provide students with the skills they need to succeed. Lastly, the
rise in crime across Minnesota since 2019 to now is unacceptable. I will work to
support our law enforcement, strengthen our criminal justice system, and ensure
that our neighborhoods are safe for all residents. Together, we can build a
brighter, safer, and more prosperous state for all Minnesotans.

MEET DOUG

I grew up and graduated from La Crescent Minnesota Sr High School in 1982 and
went to Army ROTC Training immediately after I graduated.

I earned my commission as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves in 1984
after graduating from Wentworth Military Academy & Jr College in Lexington,
Missouri.  While attending UW-La Crosse I worked for the Boy Scouts of America
at the Northern Tier High Adventure Base in Ely, Minnesota. After graduating
from UW-La Crosse, I accepted the position as District Executive with the Boy
Scouts working at the Lake Superior Boy Scout Council, now the Voyageurs Area
Council in Duluth, Minnesota.

ON THE ISSUES

•  Education – The cost of education is soaring but student performance is
declining and parents do not have enough control over their children’s
learning.

•  Law and Order – Crime rates have risen and many Minnesotans are afraid for
their personal safety.

•  Health Care – Minnesota needs market-based health care to improve access and
reduce costs.
