UPCOMING EVENTS

Title:(On Campus) Creating websites with Pitt Fuego Webtext Generator / Github

2022Time:5:00pm - 6:00pmPresenter:Dr. Stephen QuigleyLocation:Hillman Library,
Amy Knapp Room, G-74Campus:PittsburghCategories:Coding and Computational
Methods, Digital Humanities Toolkit, Digital Scholarship Workshop,
WorkshopsRegistration:Registration is required for this event.Description:

Do you and your students regularly build webtexts for presentations and digital
documents using third-party tools like Adobe Spark, Wix, Weebly, or SquareSpace?
What if you could use open-source tools instead?

If this sounds interesting, Dr. Stephen Quigley will be running a workshop
introducing you to Pitt Fuego Webtext Generator, a “basic coding” tool you and
your students can use to quickly build a wide range of digital documents and
learn a little about coding literacy, computational thinking, and build computer
science knowledge. No coding experience needed! The tool uses code tags and
pre-built templates to guide you and your students through the process. It’s
easier than you think. And the more you use Pitt Fuego Webtext Generator, the
more comfortable you will become working with code.

After this workshop, you will be able to:

 * quickly build webtexts and websites using Pitt Fuego Webtext Generator
 * make sense of how HTML code works
 * edit content using a code editor
 * upload and host sites on GitHub
 * find additional coding resources

A laptop is required for this workshop. Please check the library's laptop
lending procedures and policies if you will need to check out a laptop for this
workshop.
