ENABLING CROSS-PLATFORM APPLICATION AND GAME DEVELOPMENT

HARMAN have taken over the development and support for the Adobe AIR SDK, a
cross-platform framework used by a wide range of applications and games.
Enabling rapid development including animations created via Adobe Animate, AIR
supports the deployment of applications on desktop and mobile platforms,
including the ability to develop and deploy iPhone and iPad applications using a
Windows machine.

JOIN THE COMMUNITY

In 2020, HARMAN took over the development of Adobe AIR and have been providing
updated functionality and support for the AIR developer community. With a large
number of popular games being developed using AIR, as well as a range of
business and multimedia applications, AIR continues to be a popular framework to
develop for desktop and mobile apps.

A community-driven developer website has been put together for support and
information regarding the AIR SDK, and there are discussion groups as well as
bug reports available under the AIR SDK github account.

To help create and configure projects using the AIR SDK, please look at the AIR
Package Manager (apm) which is being developed to simplify the creation of the
AIR application descriptor file and to manage an application's dependencies.

Whilst the AIR runtimes are free for end users, we provide the AIR SDK under a
license agreement. The SDK is free for personal use and for low-income
companies, please see the pricing page for details and to purchase a license.


ADOBE FLASH PLAYER

HARMAN also provide enterprise support for the Adobe Flash Player. Following the
'end of life' of the Adobe deployment at the end of 2020, and the removal of the
Flash Player deployments in Windows by Microsoft, HARMAN are still able to
provide updated versions of the Flash Player, version 50.0, to enterprse
customers under special license terms.

Other than Internet Explorer - and Edge with IE Mode - the browsers have removed
support for plug-ins and so HARMAN also have 'packaged browser' solutions to
enable web applications to still be viewed. Alternatively, a WebAssembly-based
virtualisation layer called CheerpX for Flash is available from a third party
company that can host our Flash Player within a modern browser.
