I think I am still in trouble with that bank.

But it doesn't matter as my management co only take cheques or cash. And for
years, I had to write out the payee in Chinese until I gleaned the incorporated
owners account number, visited the incorporated owners bank and asked the teller
to confirm the incorporated owners account name in English is what I thought it
was.

Did anyone receive Citi $2/1 Mile offer? The min spend is $6,800 and earns up to
20K miles (over 4 months) for local and foreign currency.

What's the max spend (local/foreign) in order to hit 5K miles per month?

2021 HSBC 6X Devaluation

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Home changes:
Marketplace, Wellcome and Mannings deleted
Watsons moved to Lifestyle

You keep Home for PNS and Broadway (min $20k/year)
No point moving to Overseas under current conditions...

I had more than one comment to say Yuu caused it (HSBC Unfriend Yuu?)

Being based in Singapore (and having benefited from the Online & Overseas Promo
this year (hope it comes back), I disagree.

In other news, cancelled my Citi Prestige today -- end of an era. No retention
offer apart from a reminder that I'll have to pay $3,800 instead of $2,500
should I re-apply...

Just reading this:

https://www.keychainpay.com/tenant.html

And they said that for some of the HSBC cards, there is a reward of upto 5.6% ?

Any ideas how that is atainable as I cannot see anywhere on HSBC's website about
5.6% but rather 2.4% ?

I think its to do with various Red Hot Rewards with Visa Signature.

I use KeyChainPay with HSBC Red and get 4% cashback.

Yes correct.
if I am not wrong,
- Visa Signature 1.2%
- Red Hot online 2.0%
- 5x reward 2.4%

Double check the red hot online, it is limited to 10k per quarter I think.
So I use the visa signature one time every quarter, and the rest of the time I
use the Red card.

DBS Black $6/AM for the autopays.

Unless you're willing to change (1)-(3) to Alipay and pay them off that way (I
did).
--- SCB/AM $4/AM or eye $3/AM

(8) HSBC Red in-app
--- $2.5/AM https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...1sNhcqEY#gid=0

Supermarkets and Department Stores Unionpay App on CCB CUP $1.5/AM
--- yes I know you haven't got the Prestige. But $1.5/AM works on the
Platinum/Pui Ching/AIA CUP cards.
--- can't remember whether Donki has Unionpay App

I've asked REAP and they are no sure how they will be treated by HSBC Red,
noting that now Red has a lower rebate for online bill payments.

3. Is that not good to use HSBC Red World Master at Supermarkets and BoC ESSO

Both can be simultaneously used. Give the cashier your YUU QR Code before the
Unionpay App QR Code. Please open both before your turn with the cashier because
YUU's opening speed is pathetically slow.

Just a tip - you can link your YUU account with your octopus. When you are at
wellcome and they ask if you have yuu, then tell them you have it on octopus and
then tap your octopus. Then if you want to pay with octopus you tap at the end
of the transaction.

BoC Esso World Master -> when over $15000, department stores and dining qualify
for $3 / AM

Other than not having to search for the QR code on your phone, is there another
reason to use your Octopus to credit your YUU account at Wellcome (and
Mannings/IKEA/7-11/KFC as well?)? Thanks

Have some Apple items I want to buy before yearend. Are there any good current

Well, bear in mind Unionpay App is also an app, so being able to code on Octopus
card for Yuu saves the trouble of the Unionpay App exiting in the background and
requiring re-login.

7-11 will auto credit YUU when you pay with Octopus (don't need to tap twice
like at Wellcome). I'm not sure which other stores will auto-credit. And you can
link your iPhone Octopus to YUU as well (doesn't have to be a physical card).

Selected customers only
They used to have "up to 2%" promos but because they had threshholds (this
year's didn't) the rebate rate in previous years was closer to 0.7-1% (0.4-0.5%
this year).

Someone in hongkongcard also suggsted Esso Points, but to do a round trip there
is very expensive:

750 Esso points --> 1,000 AM --> 333 Esso

I better correct myself. AM —> MB still exists

But a round trip is now 66.7% loss. Or to redeem $200 coupon/spending credit,
you’re using 10,000 AM via Moneyback instead of 7,330 AM via asiamiles.com
directly.

HSBC Red MasterCard

Hello,

HSBC Red MasterCard offers 1 mile per 2.5 HKD for online purchasing. It sounds
too good. It’s a limited promotion or permanent?

When we were going through our 31 December 2020 end promotions someone pointed
out to me this one is one that will end on 31 December 2020 and we worry we
won't see an extension of https://cdn.hsbc.com.hk/content/dam/...ck.pdf#page=37

Other miles promotions ending this year (need renewing):
- HSBC 2% online and overseas
- BoC i-Card 10X

BoC just sent out more spam about the i-Card 10X promo. Anything's possible with
that bank. But would be kind of strange for them to be pushing that promo right
now if they don't plan to renew it on 31 Dec.

Hello

I just called today Standard Chartered to waive my SC AM annual fee.
Unfortunately they refused to waive them this year, and asked me to open a
saving account to be eligible, which I refused to do and cancelled my card.

I am looking for a similar card that would offer AM for general spending,
restaurants (I don’t got often, so not a big deal) and my Octopus reload.
I already have,
- Red Card for online spending
- Visa Signature for grocery
- AMEX Cathay for the rest
but I need a VISA/MasterCard for stores that don’t take AMEX.

Would you please have any recommandations?

EDIT: can I apply again the SC card under my wife’s name, but still use my AM
number?

Thank you

Great! Thanks a lot.
I have applied for the DBS Card, very smooth process.

I just want to double confirm, the CCP CUP is the CCB UnionPay Dual Currency
Credit Card. Am I correct?
Then I need to register to the UnionPay promotion.

Thank you

earn both in same category after 31 Dec 2020.

Dining still 3X so $6.25/AM.

Regarding miles that are due to expire on Asiamiles, is it worthwhile to renew
the miles (USD 40 for 2K miles) so there is no expiry date or redeem some gifts
instead?

I have 200K which will expire in Apr 2021 that means I will be spending USD 4K
to renew them. Just want to get your opinion on this

When I try to pay my electricity bill using FPS, after scanning the QR code and
having slide to pay, the money was paid out from my bank account without giving
me the choice to pay via credit card. But I see the Credit card has an FPS logo
- any ideas how I can pay my bills using the HSBC Visa Signature card?

For paying any utilities in HK, is it using Alipay or Wechatpay linked to your

Depends on bank. I hesitate to say HSBC does because Alipay on Red earns
nothing.

HSBC Mastercard currently has a 5% cash rebate promotion on Amazon.com which is
due to expire 31 Dec 2020.

https://www.redhotoffers.hsbc.com.hk...ommerce/offer/

A bit OT here, but does anyone know if (1) buying gift cards qualifies for the
cash rebate and (2) we can double dip by using the Red card for the 4% online
rebate?

The item I want to purchase is out of stock until January, so I thought buying
gift cards might be a good workaround.

Thanks!

It's getting close to December 31 and I have a bunch of HSBC RC expiring this
year. I did manage to use up my AM expiring this year, but next year is a whole
other problem; hopefully the situation will improve by Q3/Q4. Anyway back to the
HSBC RC...

I see that we can convert 1RC to 50 MoneyBack, with a maximum of 1,000RC per
day, 5,000RC per month and 10,000RC per year. MoneyBack will have two years
before expiry and then can convert to AM at 5MB to 1 AM.

MoneyBack can also convert back into RC at 50:1, with maximum 1,000RC per
conversion. (I couldn't find any maximum for monthly or yearly, this info would
be good to know)

So it seems like MoneyBack is a good solution to avoid expiring RC, as long as
the amount is less than 10,000RC at the end of the year. As can always convert
it back to RC or AM later.

Am I missing anything?

Hmm... that is a good point I did not consider. So this solution gets 1RC = HK$1
or equivalent to 10 cents per AM in value.

Given the circumstances this year, it is probably the best bet. But as a
hobbyist, I'm still tempted to keep the RC for future miles and long haul
redemption. Of course I realize I'm being extremely optimistic here.

I'll think about it.
Thanks Percy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi - I was wondering if we paid taxes with a newly opened credit card account,
the spend for taxes apply (I know they don't earn regular points) towards the
spend requirements for the welcome bonus.

Thanks much

Wondering what the new rates would be. They advertised the 4%-2%-1% benefit
pretty heavily when it launched so it would be a big blow if it changes.
What are some of the Typical transactions that are not counted the 4% for
online?

Just wondering if you guys have any recommendations on a credit card that has no
oversea charges?

The only one I found is the "CNCBI GBA Dual Currency Credit Card"

However, when I checked furthur here:
https://www.cncbinternational.com/_d...facts-stmt.pdf

They do not say anything with regards to Fees relating to Foreign Currency
Transaction?

Thanks
