WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO REAL ESTATE BANK FRAUD

Mortgage Fraud Blog--Rachel Dollar

Maria Esperansa Salgado of Maryland pleaded guilty to bank fraud in a scheme to
defraud a mortgage lender into agreeing to a short sale, or pre-foreclosure
sale, of a residential property in Alexandria, Virginia that was pending
foreclosure for non-payment of the mortgage.

FANNIE MAE PROPERTY 360 FOR EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT - RELEASE NOTES

Fannie Mae announced they had identified an issue with the auto-payment process
for capitalized advances on loan modifications and, due to the auto-generation
of claims in Property 360™, will be retired for loan modifications
completed/closed on or after Nov. 1, 2023.

PRESIDENT BIDEN SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER 14110 ON AI, PUSHES BANK REGULATORS TO
CURB BIAS

On Monday, October 30th, 2023, the President signed Executive Order 14110,
calling on the FHFA and CFPB to evaluate their regulated entities' use of AI for
bias against protected groups in underwriting and appraisal models.
Additionally, the order requires the FHFA and CFPB to issue guidance on the use
of AI in tenant screening and real estate advertising within 180 days.
