PANEL:Revolutionising the in-vehicle experience & turning it into a recurring
revenue stream
Online

Today’s consumers want more from their ‘in-car’ experience, both as drivers and
as passengers. Delivering better performance and the new in-vehicle experiences
that consumers crave, and that 5G will enable, will be fundamental to boosting
sales and increasing revenue. How is data feeding into the development process?
What new products and experiences  are surprising and delighting consumers. How
are they being monetised? Making new features available via subscription through
over-the-air software updates is one example. Could this kind of
‘performance-as-a-service’ be the way forward?

PANEL: Data Boom - Monetising connected vehicle data
Online

As cars connect and ‘talk’ to everything in and around them they are producing
‘millions of miles’ of data. In today’s car industry, data is where the money
is. McKinsey estimates car data monetization may be worth up to $450 – $750 Bn
globally by 2030. From kids’ content in the back seat to predictive vehicle
maintenance and energy optimisation, industry innovators are discovering new
ways to profit from the data that cars generate. However, it is an opportunity
that OEMs risk getting cut out of by non-traditional digital players better
placed to exploit it. Do start-up car manufacturers have an advantage over the
incumbent OEMs in early monetizing of car data? Can OEMs leverage their
incumbency advantage - an already installed base - to move ahead in the data
monetisation race? What new trends and opportunities in data-driven services are
coming over the crest of the hill?

Panel: Resilient supply chains - Mitigation Strategies to Help Carmakers Better
Prepare for Future Shocks & Shortages
Online

Semiconductor and raw materials shortages have hobbled the automotive supply
chain over the last year. While shortages and disruptions are facts of business
life, the industry does need to develop better mitigation strategies. As cars
become more ‘software-defined’ and the shift to EVs gathers pace, the demand for
chips, and the raw materials needed to make batteries, is estimated to go up by
30-50%. How can car-makers, their tech partners and components suppliers work
more effectively together to minimise the impact of future disruptions? Do
procurement practices need to change? Should supply chains be shortened? What
new technologies are helping ensure that the right parts are delivered to the
right location at the right time?

Fireside chat: Satellite data and connectivity making possible the car of the
future
Online

Large data volumes and secure connectivity are indispensable in making possible
the technologies and business models in the Connected Car of the Future. Hardly
any of the use cases currently under development  – whether autonomous driving,
safety applications, navigation, infrastructure deployment, fleet management,
fuel efficiency and so on – would be possible without collecting, transforming
and transmitting large volumes of data thanks to reliable and ubiquitous
connectivity across the globe.

 * Satellite data and connectivity are key technological bricks in this wider
technology mix that includes terrestrial connectivity and other data sources.

 * Europe possesses world-class assets, competences and infrastructures in both
the space and automotive sectors. More public and private investment and
development are needed to scale up these technologies.

 * Ultimately, the goal is that European OEMs remain competitive and

PANEL: Are Chinese cars catching up?

With a domestic car industry that is bigger than that of the EU, the US and
Japan put together, China is an automotive powerhouse - in China. The Chinese
government’s ambitious net-zero by 2060 goal has resulted in tightened mandatory
emissions quotas for ICE vehicles, designed to push EVs to reach 20% of new car
sales by 2025. This is creating a thriving domestic EV and battery market. The
quality of Chinese cars has, however, thwarted its ambitions in overseas
markets. This is now changing. As domestic manufacturers develop their ability
to produce good quality vehicles at affordable prices, car-makers in the West
are starting to take note. Can Chinese brands compete with non-Chinese premium
brands? Are Chinese cars catching up? Where is China at in it’s autonomous
journey? Is China ready to go global?

PANEL: An Electrification roadmap: Joined-up strategies for accelerating the
scale-up of EV adoption
In-Person

Pressure to hasten the transition from ICE to EV continues to intensify. The
auto industry can’t do it single-handedly, however. If countries are to meet
tough CO2 targets and deliver on the promise of electrification, collaboration
between all stakeholders - energy providers, national and local governments, and
the auto industry - is essential. How are these stakeholders working together to
overcome the problems of scaling-up production, sales and charging
infrastructure fast enough to meet national targets? What support is most needed
from the government to assist in the take-up of electric vehicles?

PANEL: The Digital Chassis & Dashboard – Owning the In-vehicle Experience Via a
Centralised Computer Architecture
In-Person

While what’s under the bonnet remains important to consumers, brand
differentiation is moving towards connected and digital in-vehicle experiences.
It is about a combination of software and hardware when buying a car today.
Carmakers are readying themselves for competition with the help of integrated
digital automotive platforms, or ‘digital chassis’. This new, digital
electronics architecture offers carmakers unique opportunities to own the
in-vehicle experience, stay connected to customers after the sale, and generate
additional revenue. How are carmakers leveraging technology solutions so that
they are fit for purpose for multiple brands, and doing so in a way that is both
cost-efficient and appealing to the consumer?

thought and a commitment to women in leadership positions
In-Person

A product is a real world manifestation and reflection of the people and company
that built it, their values and culture - not just their communication styles.
The nature of building an AV with end to end deep learning means tightly
collaborating across teams, instead of cutting things up into separate and
siloed chunks of "sense, localise, perceive, predict, plan, control," as the
previous generation of AVs did. In this fireside chat, Haibo E talks about how
inclusivity, diversity of thought, and a commitment to women in leadership
positions can help in the push to design products that can go anywhere and serve

hardware-skilled industry

Operating in one of the fastest moving industries in the world, the challenge
for today's car industry leaders has never been greater. The world around and
inside the OEM and Tier 1 organisation is changing beyond recognition. With the
average car containing around 60 microprocessors and as many lines of code as an
aircraft, coding skills are now as important as engineering prowess to the
modern OEM. Software will eventually trump hardware as the differentiator for
automotive manufactures in the coming years. How are automotive industry leaders
rethinking their internal organisational structures to stay relevant in an
