directory contains files required by a program. The only exception is if you're
using wild characters. Because you cannot have a file and directory of the same
name, you don't need to worry about mistakenly renaming a file instead of a
directory. Use the ren or rename command to rename the directory. Renaming a
directory in MS-DOS is much like renaming a file. rename h?pe.txt hope.txt
Renaming a directory The "?" used in the following example is the wild character
for an unknown character. In this next example, the command renames a file with
an unknown character in the file name to something that can be read. The
following example renames all the files in the current directory that end with.
Below are examples of how this could be done. To rename multiple files at once,
you must utilize some form of wild character. rename "computer hope.txt"
"example file.txt" Renaming multiple files with one command To rename the file "
computer hope.txt" to " example file.txt", your command would resemble the
following example. If a file or directory has a space, it must be surrounded
with quotes. rename c:\computer\test.txt hope.txt Renaming a file with a space
For example, if the file is in the "computer" directory, type a command similar
to the following example. If the test.txt file is not located in your current
directory, you must specify the file's path as a prefix to the file name. The
following example renames the file test.txt to hope.txt.

the arguments for not supporting RCS might pale.Pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and
iPhone 6 Plus are live. Currently, communication between iPhone and Andorid
devices reverts back to SMS if you're not using a separate app, like WhatsApp. A
big omission is Apple, and whether Apple will cooperate with RCS remains an
unknown. There are currently 60 supporters of RCS Messaging, broken down into 47
mobile operators, 11 OEMs and 2 OS providers. To verify if you're sending an
encrypted message, just look for the lock next to the send arrow in the
messaging app. From June 2021, end-to-end encryption is now part of Chat in
Google Messages. The protocol should also prevent spam messages from reaching
your device, as for a company to be able to send a message via RCS, they have to
go through a brand verification process. RCS messages received from companies
will have the company's name in the sender info, rather than just a mobile phone
number - so it's in a better position than SMS.įollowing the discovery of code
relating to end-to-end encryption in an unreleased version of Google Messages it
was clear that Google was planning to make this move and it went into beta in
November 2020. RCS messages rely on data in order to be sent between users, and
so messages are sent with client-to-server encryption. For many, having one app

servers can be used for the transfer of messages. This has seen RCS messaging
supported on Android devices and using Google's servers rather than the mobile
phone network's servers. However, in June 2019, Google took the reins back.
There are probably a number of reasons for that - dropping SMS or MMS tariffs
and working on cross-network functions are likely to have seen RCS as low
priority. The problem in the past has been that mobile phone networks were
handed responsibility for support and few moved on it. It's supported by the
stock Google Messages app available on Android. What's the current status of RCS
messaging?įor a number of years, RCS has been widely supported by mobile phone
networks, software and devices. It's seen as a rival to Apple's iMessage
service, although there are some subtle differences between how these services
operate. RCS messaging is very much like WhatsApp, where live chat can take
place, including multi-media support, with everything handled via the data
network. In 2016, the GSMA agreed on a Universal Profile - a set of standards
that all mobile operators, phone manufacturers and software providers can use to
help implement RCS on devices. RCS was first formed in 2007 and was taken over
by the GSM Association (GSMA), the industry trade body that represents mobile
operators worldwide, in 2008. The overall aim of RCS is for it to eventually
replace SMS and MMS messaging, the formats we're all familiar with as they have
