SEAN O’BRIEN, PETER FINN & ENTIRE OZ TEAMSTERS-UNITED SLATE NOMINATED AT
TEAMSTERS 30TH CONVENTION

At the International Brotherhood of Teamsters 30th Convention in June, Sean
O’Brien, Peter Finn, and the entire O’Brien-Zuckerman Teamsters United Slate was
officially nominated to run for the Teamsters General Executive Board and will
appear on ballots mailed to all Teamsters this fall.

This is a big moment in Teamster history and an important step in our campaign
for new leadership for a new direction!

OZ DELEGATES CHANGE TEAMSTER CONSTITUTION TO BENEFIT MEMBERS

 


 In addition to nominating the OZ Slate at the Convention, O’Brien-Zuckerman
Teamster Delegates passed significant amendments to the Teamsters Constitution
including:

 * Strike benefits start on day 1. The Teamsters Constitution now requires
   strike benefits to start on the FIRST day of a strike or lockout, NOT on the
   8th day. Now members will have the financial backing to take the fight to
   employers.
   
   

 * Rank & File on all bargaining committees. The IBT Constitution now requires
   all bargaining committees to include rank-and-file members. This has long
   been the practice at Local 856 under Peter Finn’s leadership.
   
   

 * Eliminating the “2/3rds Rule” which allowed IBT leadership to impose
   contracts that had been voted down by the membership, like they did in 2018
   with the UPS contract. Never again will the IBT be able to force contracts
   upon members.
   
   These amendments will have a positive impact on Teamsters and the
   O’Brien-Zuckerman Teamsters United Slate pushed hard to make them a reality.
   That is the kind of leadership and member-driven policies Teamsters can
   expect from OZ leadership at the IBT.

I am honored to join Sean O’Brien and the entire OZ 2021 slate as a candidate
for Western Region Vice President. It is recognition of the work we have all
done together to build Local 856 into one of the largest and strongest Teamsters
Locals in our Union. This does not mean I’m leaving Local 856, but rather it’s
an opportunity to further grow the strength and influence of Teamsters 856
members on a national level.
