HELPFUL TIPS FROM YOUR CREDIT UNION

To prevent against check forgery, alteration, or check “washing”, write and sign
your checks in a gel ink pen (preferably black) so the ink will permeate the
fibers of the check. Leave no blank spaces on the payee or amount lines. Make
sure the written dollar amount and the numeric dollar amount match. Remember,
your Credit Union offers FREE Bill Pay to minimize the number of checks you
write, and you can ensure your payments arrive safely and on-time.

To prevent against identity theft, there are several things you can do including
reviewing your credit reports often, reviewing your credit card and credit union
statements on a frequent basis, collect your mail daily, and keep your credit
reports frozen until ready to apply for new credit. You Credit Union has many
ways to help keep your information safe, including text alerts, secure online
banking, and instant debit card control.

Passwords are also important to keeping your information safe. Please remember
to change your passwords regularly. Make your password a phrase rather than a
word. Avoid birthdays, names, and anniversaries. Special characters are your
friend; use them often! Try replacing letters with numbers or special
characters. For example, your can replace the letter “l” with the number one, or
the letter “s” with a dollar sign.
