STRONG CONTINUED GROWTH FOR DNV

2023 by 26.2% compared with the year before. The company continues to grow

IMO MEPC 81: NEGOTIATIONS ON NEW GHG REDUCTION REQUIREMENTS CONTINUE

The 81st session of the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 81)
continued its negotiation of GHG fuel intensity requirements, potentially in
combination with a GHG pricing mechanism. Other important decisions include the
reporting of transport work and more granular fuel consumption data in the data
collection system, and approval of proposals to designate the Canadian Arctic
and the Norwegian Sea as NOx, SOx and PM Emission Control Areas.

DNV SUPPORTS STATNETT WITH THE ASSESSMENT OF HVDC PLATFORM SOLUTIONS FOR HYBRID
GRID CONNECTIONS

DNV has been commissioned by Statnett to conduct a study of different design
solutions for offshore high-voltage direct current (HVDC) platforms to enable
the realization of hybrid grid connections. This study will be part of
Statnett’s investigation of potential hybrid grid connections for offshore wind
production in the Southwest F area in the North Sea – an investigation that
Statnett has been tasked with by The Norwegian Ministry of Energy.

DNV is calling for deeper industry collaboration to develop robust offshore wind
standards, ahead of the WindEurope conference in Bilbao. Highlighting findings
from the latest Energy Transition Outlook — which forecasts wind power as
Europe's primary renewable energy source by 2050, contributing to 43% of total
electricity generation —, DNV is stressing the urgent need for joined up

DNV EMBARKS ON GROUNDBREAKING HYDROGEN BLENDING FEASIBILITY STUDY TO DECARBONIZE
GAS SYSTEM IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

DNV is executing hydrogen blending feasibility studies for Enbridge, Inc.
(Enbridge) and FortisBC Energy Inc. (FortisBC). The two individual studies will
determine the percentage of hydrogen that can be safely transported through
existing natural gas pipeline infrastructure, including Enbridge’s transmission
system and FortisBC’s distribution system, both located in British Columbia,
Canada. These studies, which are the largest blending studies undertaken in
North America, will be used to develop the codes and standards required to
safely transport hydrogen as the first step in forming a sustainable commercial
hydrogen market.

IMO SUB-COMMITTEE ON SHIP SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT (SSE10)

The 10th session of the IMO’s Sub-Committee on Ship Systems and Equipment (SSE
10) was held from 4 to 8 March 2024. SSE 10 agreed on a road map for considering
the adequacy of the fire safety system requirements for ships carrying new
energy and electrical vehicles, and initiated the consideration of measures for
detecting and controlling fires in cargo holds of container ships.
Clarifications of the requirements for the maintenance and testing of
life-saving appliances were considered to ensure uniform implementation.
