The feeling you get when you check your strawberry seeds and see how far they've

The growth is only a tiny bit to most people but to us at the Vego Garden farm
we are ecstatic😍
Achieving success with strawberries requires an understanding of their life
cycle. Similar to other hardy perennials, strawberries go dormant in winter and
then begin to grow vigorously as the spring soil warms up🍓🌱
Vego Garden’s Tips for Growing Strawberries:
🍓Plant strawberries in spring or fall based on your growing zone. In-ground
gardens, raised beds, and containers are all excellent growing areas.
🍓Give plants 1 to 1.5 inches of water weekly, and avoid wetting the leaves.
🍓Harvest ripe strawberries in the cool of morning and refrigerate them right
away.

Our final Friday harvest in February... As warmer weather creeps in we are full
of nostalgia, harvesting the last few rounds of cool weather crops here at the
Vego farm like bok choy, cabbage, and collards. This transitional time between
seasons leaves us pensive, reflective, and grateful - bidding farewell to
winter, welcoming in spring. Perhaps we'll make soup. 😌🍲

5 Tips to grow GIANT Broccoli and Cauliflower 🥦🥦 1- SUNLIGHT , find the space
in your garden that receive Full sun (6-8 hours) 2- SPACING, plant them between
12-14 inches apart: 3- FERTILIZER, they are heavy feeders crops, I use Fish
fertilizer every two weeks 4- WATER, never let the roots dry out, I water every
other day ( skip on rainy day) 5- PEST CONTROL, I use BT to control cabbage

A couple Ways to Harvest the Green. First, you can harvest by removing the side
leaves, the center part will keep growing, and you will enjoy it the rest of the
season. Remember: the more you harvest, the more it will grow. Second method, I
usually did this at the end of the season. Harvest by removing the whole plant
to the roots. Noted: the plant will not grow unless you leave a few inches of
the base above the ground. Enjoy the Growing !

powerhouses that can be eaten mixed in salads. Leafy Greens is Cool season
vegetables can be started from seed indoors or, directly seeded into the garden
and most will germinate in the garden when the soil temperature is between 55 to

I get this a lot “ YOU HAVE SUCH A PERFECT VEGETABLE!!”” Let me tell you ……
NOTHING is Perfect. 👩🏻‍🌾 As we grow our garden organically, we have the same
issue , just more or less , and my problem solving is BT! . If caterpillars are
devouring your garden, one safe and effective way to get rid of them is by
applying the naturally occurring bacteria known as Bt, or Bacillus
thuringiensis. . Bt can be applied as a liquid or powder, and many of the
varieties are certified organic. . 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗕𝗧 ???? 𝗕𝗧 (Bacillus
thuringiensis) is a natural bacteria that is commonly found in soil. When eaten
by caterpillars, the bacteria produce proteins that paralyze the caterpillar’s
digestive system, which causes them to stop feeding and die. . 𝗕𝗧 is safe for
use in organic gardens because it has a specific target and is nontoxic to
humans, animals, and beneficial insects. It’s approved for use in vegetable
gardens up to the day of harvest, though all vegetables and herbs should still
be thoroughly washed before eaten. . 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗧 : . 🌱 Apply Bt
Thoroughly: In order for Bt to work, the caterpillar has to eat it. Be sure to
cover both the tops and bottoms of the leaves. 🌱 Give Bt Time to Work: Bt takes
several days to work, so be patient. 🌱 Follow Instructions in the Bottle. 🌱
Apply Multiple Doses: Bt degrades quickly in sunlight and only lasts about a
week or so. Apply as soon as you spot an infestation, and reapply every week if
the caterpillars return. 🌱 I apply BT in all of my Veggies and flowers. 🌱 ONLY
apply BT as needed . 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 !

We spent 2 days and 16 hours below freezing. 2 night of lows around 16-17
degrees F. Here’s what survived (with assistance) in our garden!

Our Rosemary made it through multiple days of hard freezes without any damage!
Here’s how we did it: First we wrapped it in LOTS of frost fabric. Then we put
an old piece of greenhouse plastic over it and secured it to the bed with a
strap. Last year we wrapped it with frost fabric but no plastic. It lived but
had lots of damage, so it seems the plastic over the frost fabric helped a lot!
