ALLOWING ACCESS TO RENAISSANCE RESOURCES FOR YOUR RENAISSANCE WEB-BASED SOFTWARE

Issue:

Allowing access to Renaissance resources for Accelerated Math, Accelelerated
Reader, Star Custom, Star Early Literacy, Star Math, and Star Reading.


Resolution:

Your district or school network may have a firewall, proxy server, or content
filtering software that could prevent access to resources that are used by your
Renaissance web-based software. To be sure the software functions as designed,
you should add the list of domains below to the allowlist within your firewall,
proxy, or content filtering software. Be sure to allow inbound and outbound http
and https communication.


If renaissance-go.com is part of your Renaissance site address, you must also
allow WebSocket traffic in order for some areas of the software to function
properly, including Star CBM and generating PDFs from reports.


Note: Firewall, proxy, and content filter vendors use different syntax for
wildcard domains. If you are having difficulties allowing the domains below,
please contact your vendor for assistance.

*Knovation is an OER (Open Educational Resources) content aggregator that
curates and creates an index of OERs found on the web from leading K-12
publishers and other instructional resource providers. Rather than linking
directly to the OER, Renaissance provides a link to Knovation and they return
the OER from the third-party. If students or teachers can get to the resource
directly but are not able to view third-party resources via Renaissance, they
may not have access to the Knovation domain.


Note: If your hosted URL begins with 'https://global-zone' and you're using
Lightspeed, you will also need to exclude these domains from decryption in order
to properly allow access. To exclude from decryption, access the Relay.school
Website, then go to Global-Settings-General and go to the section called
'Exclude from Decryption'. Add the domains listed in this document.


Access to MP3/MP4 files


Students may experience errors while taking Star Early Literacy, Star Math, and
Star Reading assessments if they are not able to download MP3 and/or MP4 files.
For further details, refer to the specific Technical Recommendations for your
platform.

If you filter internet traffic by user-agent, you may need to allow access to
the following depending on what software and devices are used within the
schools:
