CREATING THRIVING CITIES

WE ARE ON A MISSION TO POSITIVELY IMPACT THE MENTAL HEALTH OF MORE THAN 1
MILLION CANADIANS OVER THE NEXT 5 YEARS.

WE’LL DO THIS BY EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES TO PRIORITIZE WELL-BEING AND MENTAL
HEALTH THROUGH EVIDENCE-BASED POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY INTERVENTIONS.

TOGETHER, WE CAN SPREAD THE RIPPLE EFFECT OF RESILIENCE, WELL-BEING, AND LASTING
CHANGE THROUGHOUT EVERY CORNER OF OUR COMMUNITY.

MENTAL ILLNESS IS INCREASING GLOBALLY,
ESPECIALLY AMONG YOUTH. THE PANDEMIC HAS WORSENED THIS CRISIS, AND CANADA IS NO
EXCEPTION.

Mental illness is now at epidemic levels.

While all levels of government are increasing spending on programs to address
mental illness each year, rates of mental illness are in fact increasing.

And it’s costly …

ECONOMY

Estimated $50 billion annually, which includes health care expenditures, lost
productivity, and other related costs.

LOST PRODUCTIVITY

Estimated productivity losses due to mental illness amount to around $6 billion
annually.

ABSENTEEISM

500,000 Canadians miss work every week due to mental illness.

UNEMPLOYMENT

70-90% of people with serious mental illness are unemployed.

HEALTH CARE

Estimated $7 billion annually.

It’s overwhelming.

It feels too complicated to overcome.

It’s stressful and frustrating.

As a community leader you may be wondering how you can make a difference for
your citizens?

The very real truth is every human can benefit from evidence-based wellness
support, not just those with severe issues. By implementing proven tools and
strategies in workplaces and communities,

WE CAN DRIVE POSITIVE CHANGE.

Let's Chat

“ALONE WE CAN DO SO LITTLE; TOGETHER WE CAN DO SO MUCH.”

HELEN KELLER

Thriving Cities draws inspiration from the successful “Comprehensive Soldier
Fitness” project by the Penn Resilience Center for the US Army – designed to
equip soldiers with skills to better handle stress, improve mental health, and
thrive in both combat and everyday life.

Backed by science and research, our program is grounded in Positive Psychology –
the science of wellbeing, success, and human flourishing.

Thriving Cities focuses on capacity building through learning and coaching for
community and city leaders.

Thriving Cities will equip leaders and citizens to better cope with stress,
improve resilience and cope with adversity.

Through our impactful train-the-trainer approach and creating community
well-being ambassadors, your well-being champions will ignite a ripple effect –
spreading these effective tools and fostering a culture of mental wellness,
resilience and positive change throughout neighborhoods and the whole community.

Like no two military units are the same, so too for communities.

Each community has its own unique challenges, so we customize the program to
meet your community’s struggles – ensuring the solution is both practical and
relevant, focused on local needs.
