HOLDING PYCON US 2023 IN SALT LAKE CITY, UT

Posted by Jackie Augustine August 15, 2022
In light of recent anti-abortion legislation, we have received feedback and
concern about hosting PyCon US 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah. We hear this
concern and recognize the risk and impact these laws impose on people who can
become pregnant. PyCon US plans to take extra efforts to create a safe and
inclusive environment throughout the duration of the conference, including
extending our “no questions asked” refund or conversion to a virtual ticket for
any reason, right up to the start of the event. PyCon US is a community
conference centered around creating a valuable and inclusive experience for each
member of our community to network and collaborate within the open source space.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are an important focus of PyCon US and the
Python Software Foundation’s mission , and they are valued and implemented
through both the PyCon US and PSF Code of Conduct and Diversity Statement. PyCon
US values each member of our community, and welcomes all individuals to pa

PYCON US 2022 TRANSPARENCY REPORT

Posted by Jackie Augustine June 13, 2022
With a return to in-person events, PyCon US has taken care to maintain
excellency in the safety of our events both through our Code of Conduct and our
Health and Safety Guidelines. A key piece of the enforcement of these is the
transparency of its outcomes. Below, you’ll find details on the reports that we
received for Code of Conduct violations as well as self-reported cases of
COVID-19. Code of Conduct PyCon US strives to provide a safe and inclusive
environment for all attendees. Our Code of Conduct has been put in place as a
guideline to ensure that community members feel safe during the event. This year
we continued our efforts to improve our Code of Conduct (CoC) response and
reporting by offering staff, volunteers, and community members an opportunity to
participate in a CoC training. In having more people trained, we established a
more robust and diverse team to accept reports and respond to incidents both at
in-person and online events. We have prepared the following to help t

PYCON US 2022 RECORDINGS UPDATE

Posted by Jackie Augustine May 16, 2022
We understand that the PyCon US recordings are an incredibly important resource
to the community. We were looking forward to providing the PyCon US 2022
recordings very soon after the event – especially since we know many of you
weren’t able to attend this year’s conference in person. Regrettably, we have
encountered some technical obstacles this year. We are working with our AV
partners at the venue to resolve things as soon as possible. Because of the
ongoing pandemic, we were unable to work with our usual vendor for PyCon US
conferences. They are based in Canada and understandably didn’t want to commit
to travel to the US this year. This resulted in PyCon US contracting with a new
AV vendor for the first time in many years. We were very thorough in providing
details, but ultimately this was a new team doing work to new specifications.
The onsite AV team has provided an update on the technical issues as follows:
“Some of the sessions are missing audio or graphics and are being worked

IMPORTANT VENUE INFORMATION UPDATE

Posted by Deb Nicholson April 22, 2022
The PyCon US 2022 staff, committees, and volunteers know that for many attending
PyCon US 2022 next week the Health and Safety Guidelines and Vaccine
Verification policy along with a commitment to enforce them via our Code of
Conduct have provided the information necessary to weigh the risks and make
attendance decisions that best meet their needs. We remain committed to those
policies and procedures set forth from the start to deliver the safest possible
environment for all attendees. That commitment extends to ensuring that
attendees are aware of the venue layout and shared spaces where our policies
cannot apply. What you need to know: The Salt Palace Convention Center will be
hosting another event concurrently with PyCon US , the USA Gymnastics T&T Region
1&2 Championships. The gymnastics event will not be requiring masks for their
attendees and does not currently have a published set of policies or statements
regarding vaccines.  Venue Details While the layout of the con
