PermaVET

Permaculture in Vocational Education and Training



PermaVET aims at increasing awareness about climate change among VET trainees in
various sustainability-relevant sectors and at developing vocation-specific
competences in order to reduce energy use, save resources and process
sustainable organic food. The idea is to make use of the permaculture concept to
sensitize vocational groups for their specific potential in making a change. The
permaculture concept has become increasingly popular in agriculture in recent
years. It, however, holds additional potential for optimizing consumption of
resources and energy that are meaningful for other vocational fields in
environmentally relevant sectors.

PLANNED PHASES OF THE PROJECT

The project has three main phases, and each one of them will lead to different
results that are interlinked with the project’s objectives.




INTELLECTUAL OUTPUT 1

 * A basic training module for all VET trainees that includes 8 teaching units
   that will
   approach topics such as climate change and the impact of traditional
   agriculture.


INTELLECTUAL OUTPUT 2

 * A training module for VET trainees in cooking/gastronomy that includes 12
   teaching units and 4 practice days on a permaculture farm;
 * An exclusive international collection of recipes that will focus on seasonal
   and regional cooking with products that result from permaculture;
 * 20 learning videos that will cover topics such as the products that can be
   grown in
   permaculture, at what time of the year a specific product grows and tips from
   professionals


INTELLECTUAL OUTPUT 3

 * A training module for VET trainees in electronics/mechatronics that includes
   12
   teaching units and 4 practice days on a permaculture farm, where the trainees
   define
   potential for improving the use of resources and develop their own solutions
   in project
   approaches;
 * 20 learning videos that will cover topics such as energy sources in
   permaculture production, ecological electricity generation and data analysis.
