The projects pursued by the student-teams always maintain a focus on how to handle the challenges of a distributed architecture when there are many agents simultaneously flying and localizing. * NCCR AUTOMATION The National Centre of Competence in Research «Dependable, ubiquitous automation», NCCR Automation for short, investigates new approaches to the control of complex automated systems and implements them in concrete applications in practice. * NECSYS 22 Networked Systems and complex dynamical systems are composed of a large number of individual systems interacting physically or through a communication network. These large-scale cyper-physical systems arise as natural models in many areas of engineering and sciences, such as sensor networks, autonomous, unmanned vehicles, power networks, biological networks, social networks, and animal cooperative aggregation. * SNOOKERBOT STUDENT PROJECT SnookerBot is a snooker playing robot platform at IfA. This project builds upon it by adding a mobile platform as a base for the current system to move around the table. The student, then needs to explore the state- of-the-art SLAM algorithms to implement one on the testbed for state estimation. * QUAD-ROTORS The Distributed Flying and Localization Laboratory (D-FaLL) creates a space where students can learn, experiment, and develop new ideas on the topics of Flying Machines and their Localization. We are located in the central campus, close to the city centre. The focus of the laboratory is research and teaching in the field of automatic control systems. The lab has four faculty: John Lygeros (head), Florian Dörfler, Roy Smith and Maryam Kamgarpour. In addition we have approximately 10 postdoctoral students and over 30 PhD students. INFORMATION ON THE CORONAVIRUS The ETH task force headed by the Vice President for Infrastructure is monitoring developments in the coronavirus pandemic and will continue to draw up suitable measures as necessary. You can find constantly updated information on ETH's coronavirus COVID- 19 web page NCCR AUTOMATION The National Centre of Competence in Research «Dependable, ubiquitous automation», NCCR Automation for short, investigates new approaches to the control of complex automated systems and implements them in concrete applications in practice. Through networked research, the development of new technologies and education, the NCCR aims to strengthen Switzerland's leading role in automation and control technology.
