DRIVER EDUCATION

The Driver Education Program at the Hawaii Department of Transportation was
established through Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 286-108.4 and Hawaii
Administrative Rules 19-139 to provide a framework for drivers under the age of
18 to develop driving skills over time. The goal of the Driver Education Program
is to reduce motor vehicle crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving teen
drivers.
