Contact us MALTA SAFETY GUIDELINES Our team in Malta work hard to ensure the maximum safety of our students and staff while guaranteeing the best possible EC experience. To maintain the safety of our EC community, here are some of the key steps we are taking: * Guiding principles • The safety of our students and team members remains our highest priority • Signs are posted prominently throughout the school to remind all of the importance of distancing and hygiene • Floor markings throughout the school give clear guidance on social distancing measurements • Vigorous and regular cleaning regimes are in place to make our schools as safe as possible for you • Hand sanitisers are stationed throughout the school • Temperature checks will be made on entrance to the school buildings • EC follows local protocols for staff or students who show COVID-19 symptoms or who test positive for COVID-19 • Due to the high temperatures anticipated over the summer months, we will continue to use air-conditioning throughout our Centre. All AC units have been sanitised and are certified with antibacterial and antiviral protection. We will continue to deep clean and sanitize filters on a weekly basis. * Common areas • Students can eat lunch in their classroom ‘bubble’ to minimise contact with other classes • We recommend students bring food for break time and not leave at break time • Our computer labs are not available for use, so we strongly recommend students bring their own mobile devices for personal use • Our libraries and self-study areas are closed however our staff can assist you with borrowing resources that you can use at home • Student lounges will be closed • Social distancing measures are in place for the use of any bathroom facilities • Lifts are used only for deliveries or those affected by disabilities and health issues – stairwells are to be used by all others * Class management and timetables • Students will attend a face-to-face timetable • Face-to-face classes may have staggered start, break, and end times • Face-to-face class sizes will be kept to an maximum of 12 students • Furniture is arranged to allow safe distancing • Floor markings provide guidance for social distancing measures • Students receive their own coursebook, however no shared resources are available in classrooms • Students are required to bring their own writing materials and notebooks • All placement and progress assessments, induction and graduation are done virtually • No in-person trial classes are conducted at this time * Personal protective equipment, cleaning and common areas Personal protective equipment • Team members, including teachers may wear face coverings and other items of PPE at times • Team members and students must wear face coverings in common areas whilst inside the school building.
