Ad powered by advergic.com

Right now, SASSA is helping more than 18 million poor people through different
aid programs. While checking each applicant, many things get skipped, and their
aid is stopped. However, SASSA also keeps its beneficiaries informed through
various means like status checks.

With the help of the SASSA status check tools, people can easily find out the
stages and results of their application by just entering their application ID
and phone number. However, as a South African social worker, I have observed
that a good number of SASSA aid recipients do not know how to check their R350
status and spend hours in line to find out the status of their application.

Seeing this difficult situation, I have explained everything from SASSA
application eligibility criteria and ways to check the SRD grant to SASSA grant
statuses and their solutions on this page. If you want to know all this and much
more in one place, read the article carefully to the end.

SASSA PAYMENT SCHEDULE FOR MAY 2024

If you or someone else gets the SASSA grant in the form of disability grant, SRD
R350 grant, child grant, or old age pension. You should know when that money
will come in May 2024. For your convenience, I have sorted out those specific
dates. Go through the table before moving next.

WHY YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SASSA STATUS REGULARLY

Checking your SASSA status regularly is important for managing your social
grants. Besides, it helps you in the following ways:

 * Stay updated on the progress of your social grant application.
 * Make sure you meet SASSA’s rules and have the right documents.
 * Check the frequency of payments.
 * See if there are delays in processing your application or if you need to
   apply again.
 * Easily manage grant payments and update your bank information.
 * Quickly fix any problems with your social assistance.
 * Ensure you get the money and benefits you’re supposed to on time.

DIFFERENT METHODS OF CHECKING SASSA SRD R350 GRANT STATUS

Though there are multiple ways to check status, most people are unaware due to a
lack of knowledge about it. I have described all the possible procedures most
easily so you can check the R350 grant status correctly and without hassle.

REQUIRED THINGS FOR SRD STATUS CHECK

You just need two things in hand to know the status of your Sassa grant.

 1. The 13-digit South African ID number of the applicant.
 2. The 10-digit phone number used to submit your application.

But before going deep through the various processes of Sassa status check for
r350, let’s look at all the options and choose one that suits you well.

 * Use our Instant and Accurate Tool
 * Visit Official Website
 * Download and Install the Moya App
 * Through Whatsapp
 * Call the Helpline
 * Via SMS

Whatever method you choose, you can easily know SRD status. Now, let’s discuss
all the ways Sassa payment status checks one by one in detail.

1. SASSA STATUS CHECKER TOOL – AN INSTANT METHOD

The simplest, accurate, and quickest way to check how you’re doing is to use the
tool right here on this page:

 * Go to the beginning of this page and find the r350 Status Check form.
 * Put your South African ID card number and mobile number in it.
 * Click the “Check Status” button.
 * Your status will pop up right below the form.

> Note: If you’re not getting the desired results with the methods explained
> above, consider trying out our SASSA status check tool. It might provide you
> with additional insights and assistance in navigating the SASSA application
> and grant process more efficiently.

2. VISIT THE GOVT WEBSITE – SRD.SASSA.GOV.ZA

You can also check how your SASSA grant is doing by going to SASSA’s main
website. You can use this process by following steps:

 * Open any browser
 * Click the link www.srd.sassa.gov.za
 * Put your South African ID and phone number in the blank fields on the form
 * Simply hit the button ” check status.”
 * Wait for a few seconds, and your latest SASSA status will appear

You can see how simple the process of checking the status of your SRD grant is.

3. USING THE MOYA APP TO VERIFY YOUR SASSA STATUS

If you want to get rid of repeatedly opening and closing your web browser to
check your SASSA grant status, install the Moya app on your phone. This app’s
downloading and installing is exactly the same as you do for other apps in the
Play Store. But if you’re a beginner and wish to understand how to do it, here
are the instructions:

 * Open the app store on your mobile
 * Search moya app
 * Download and set it up on your phone by doing what it tells you.
 * Open the app, search “SASSA grant” through the discovery tab, and select the
   “SASSA SRD status.”
 * Put your 13 digits, application ID, and 10 digits phone number
 * Hit the “submit” button
 * You will show your r350 grant status.

The preference of this method is that once you download the Moya App, you can
run it even without the internet. In this way, you can check your sassa status
easily.

4. CHECK SRD R350 STATUS VIA WHATSAPP

Whatsapp is a frequently used app in the world. So, by seeing the convenience of
its beneficiaries, Sassa has provided the ability to check your Sassa status
using this social media app. Its process is simple. Let me describe it in a few
steps below:

 * Simply add the number 082 046 8553 to your phone contacts.
 * Now send a general message with any word like “SASSA” on the above number.
 * The automatic reply system will ask for your reference number, so provide it
by typing it in the blank typing space.
 * After sending the reference number, another auto-reply message of your
registered phone number at Sassa will be demanded. Write that phone number
   exactly.

Finally, providing both and waiting a few seconds, you will see your SASSA
status on the WhatsApp screen.

5. SASSA CHECK STATUS VIA SMS

Sassa also provides another facility to check your SRD grant status by sending
an SMS only. Its process is following:

 * Click on the messaging icon on your mobile phone
 * Just enter your 13-digit South African ID number
 * Now put the number 082 046 8553 on the contact number and place
 * Press the “Send Message” button

Within seconds, you will receive the updated status of your SASSA R350 grant.

6. VERIFY YOUR R350 STATUS BY MAKING A CALL

If you want to know the status of your Sassa grant one-on-one through human
interaction, you can directly dial the call in the following ways:

 * Dial the number 0800 601 011
 * Follow the instructions of the call center representative voice.
 * When they said to enter your application ID and phone number, provide it
   accurately.
 * After some patience, the Sassa call center representative will tell you about
   your current Sassa status.

You can see that all the methods are simple and authentic when checking the
status of the SASSA grant. Now it’s up to you which method you prefer.

SASSA STATUSES, MEANINGS, AND SOLUTIONS

After using any of the methods mentioned above to know the Sassa status check,
you can see different results that have their own meanings and solutions. It has
been observed that many beneficiaries whose applications do not proceed because
they know little about finding the solution.

Therefore, I have discussed all the possible Sassa status results, their
meanings, and solutions so that you can move on with your application easily
according to the viable process. Below, I break down the meaning, and what steps
you can take next:

1. APPLICATION COMPLETE

 * Meaning: Your application or reapplication process for the SRD R350 grant has
   been finished.
 * Next Steps: Your application will undergo verification each month before
approval. While this doesn’t guarantee payment, it’s a step forward.

2. APPLICATION APPROVED STATUS

 * Next Steps: Await notification through SMS, email, or approval letter. Next,
decide how to get the money via the Post Office, your bank, or a cash card.

3. DECLINED APPLICATION STATUS

 * Meaning: SASSA says you can’t get the grant because you don’t qualify.
 * Next Steps: Review the reason provided for rejection. If you think this is
wrong and you should get the grant, you can ask SASSA to review your
   application again.

4. APPLICATION STATUS PENDING

 * Next Steps: Await updates on your status. SASSA will let you know if your

   purpose.

UNDERSTANDING SASSA APPLICATION PROCESSING TIMELINES

When you apply for a grant with the South African Social Security Agency
(SASSA), you might wonder how long it will take to process your application.
Here’s what you should remember about how long it takes:

1. HOW LONG IT SHOULD TAKE

SASSA tries to handle applications for grants not for disabilities in 90 days or
less. For disability grants, they try to do it in 30 days or less. But it might
take longer or shorter because of different things that can happen.

2. FACTORS AFFECTING PROCESSING

 * SASSA Center Handling
The center where you submit your application can influence processing speed.
Some offices might have more workers and needed things to handle applications
   quicker.
 * Kind of Grant
The kind of grant you requested can also change how long it takes. Some
grants may require more verification steps, leading to longer processing
   times.
 * Timely Submission of Documents
How quickly you provide any additional documents or information requested by
SASSA matters. Submitting requested documents quickly can help move your
   application along faster.
 * Number of People Applied
How many people applied for grants at your SASSA office can change how long
it takes to handle them. If there’s a backlog, it may take longer to process
   applications.

3. STAYING IN TOUCH

If it’s been longer than usual and you still don’t know if you’ll get the grant,
it’s a good idea to call the SASSA helpline. When you talk to them, you can ask
how your application is going and if you need to do anything else to help finish
it.

4. STAYING IN TOUCH

Keeping in contact with SASSA about how your application is going might help
things move faster. If you’re worried or have questions, don’t be afraid to ask
them for help.

SASSA STATUS CHECK FOR R350 PAYMENT DATES 2024 – 2025

Once your application for the Sassa grant is approved, the next process is to
get the amount. All beneficiaries in any type of Sassa grant can see the date of
their grant release. If you are thinking about where you can get that payment
schedule, do not go anywhere; just check the table below.

Remember that these dates may vary depending on the circumstances. However,
SASSA sends its beneficiaries some notifications or text messages to inform them
about payment dates.

If you see that more than expected days of payment dates have passed, you can
check the status of your Sassa grant by using one of the above-described
methods.

DIFFERENT WAYS OF SASSA PAYMENT STATUS CHECK

SASSA, which stands for the South African Social Security Agency, provides
crucial monthly funds to folks who require financial assistance. As a grant
recipient in 2024, monitoring your remaining balance is essential to effectively
manage your finances. Fortunately, there are several convenient methods to do so
using your phone.

USSD METHOD

You can use USSD by dialing either 1203210# or 12069277# and following the
provided menu prompts.

CHECKING BALANCE THROUGH WHATSAPP

You can also put SASSA’s WhatsApp number (082 046 8553) on your phone. Send a
message that says “SASSA”, then reply with “Status”, and then send your ID
number. They will text you how much money you have.

SASSA SRD GRANT APP

For added convenience, you can download the SASSA SRD Grant app, register with
your details, and log in to view your balance effortlessly.

EASYPAY RECIPIENTS

If you receive your grant through EasyPay, you can check your balance by
visiting a Net1 branch, logging into online banking, using the mobile app, or
dialing 1203737# for a mobile transaction.

Regularly checking your balance empowers you to make informed decisions and
manage your grant funds wisely.

HOW TO COLLECT SASSA SRD PAYMENTS OF MAY 2024

If your Sassa grant is approved after checking its status, the next step is to
collect the payment. I have seen a long queue for beneficiaries to receive
payment. But there are multiple ways to acquire it most easily. Let me introduce
you to various methods of collecting your SASSA grant.

METHODS OF COLLECTION

There are different methods to collect SASSA grants at the end of each month.
Remember, you can only get your money after you check your status and get a text
message saying your payment is ready.

 1. Get Money From a Bank
If you give SASSA your bank account information, they will put the money
into that account. You can then take out money from the ATM or at the bank.
 2. Use SASSA Card to Get Money
You can use your special SASSA card to take out money like bank cards. Take
it to an ATM or certain stores to get free money.
 3. Get Money using the Cash Payment Method
If you didn’t provide bank details or don’t have a SASSA Card, collect cash
from local Post Office branches or SASSA-partnered retail outlets like
Checkers, Shoprite, Spar, Pick n Pay, Boxer, and Usave.

To withdraw cash from SASSA-selected stores, follow these steps:

 * Visit any store as soon as possible. I would recommend the morning time.
 * Inform the cashier of your intent to withdraw when your turn comes.
 * He will demand an ID card and an application ID. Provide both for
   verification.

Ensure you receive your grant amount and a receipt and keep it safe for future
reference.

HOW TO MANAGE YOUR SASSA R350 GRANT NOTIFICATIONS AND STATUSES

Sometimes, our grant is approved, although we face different issues that are
uncommon. So, I have described them in such a way that if you ever received
these notices, you should be aware of their solutions. Let’s discuss them in
detail

WHAT TO DO IF SASSA SAID YES BUT YOU DIDN’T GET A TEXT OR GRANT

When SASSA says you can get a grant, it helps with money. However, if your
online status shows approval but you haven’t received the SMS notification, you
may face difficulties accessing the payment.

WHY IT MIGHT HAPPEN

There are a few things that could be why you didn’t get the text:

 * The phone number or contact info you gave SASSA might be wrong.
 * There could be mistakes in what you wrote down.
 * Your phone might not have enough money or airtime on it.
 * Problems with the phone network could stop the text from getting to you.
 * There might be tech problems with SASSA’s system.

WHY THIS IS CONCERNING

Not receiving the SMS can hinder your ability to withdraw the grant from
designated outlets, posing a significant issue that requires resolution.

STEPS TO FIX THE PROBLEM

Here’s what you can do to address the issue:

 * Call SASSA at 0800 601 011 to ask for help.
 * Make sure the phone number SASSA has for you is right.
 * Call your bank to see if they have any problems.
 * Wait 2 or 3 days in case it’s just slow.

If it still doesn’t work, go to the closest SASSA office so they can help you
more.

IMPORTANCE OF RESOLVING THIS

It’s crucial to persistently follow up on this issue to ensure access to your
approved funds for urgent needs. Doing something about it quickly will help
ensure you get the text and can take out your grant money as soon as possible.

SASSA GRANT APPLICATIONS DECLINED – KNOW THE REASONS AND SOLUTION

While checking the Sassa status, if you see the declined message on the screen,
it means that Sassa has declined your application for the specific month. Along
with it, SASSA also specifies the reasons for declination. I have listed down
common reasons that many beneficiaries have seen are the following:

Status ReasonMeaningalternative_income_source_identifiedYour bank account
received more than R624 in a month, indicating you may have alternative sources
of income. The SRD grant is for those in severe need, earning less than R624.
Any amount above this disqualifies you.identity_verification_failedThe personal
details in your SRD application don’t match those in the Department of Home
Affairs database. Ensure your application information matches your official ID
details.existing_sassa_grantYou currently receive another social grant. The SRD
grant is only for those not receiving other grants.debtorGrant payment was made
in error, detected by SASSA. Payments will resume if you still meet the grant
criteria after SASSA rectifies the error.nsfas_registeredYou received NSFAS
funds during the reconsidered period. The SRD grant isn’t for students with
NSFAS funding.uif_registeredSASSA saw that you got UIF money during the time
they were looking at. The SRD grant isn’t available to UIF
recipients.gov_payrol_registeredYou were employed by the government during the
reconsidered period. Former government employees can’t get the SRD
grant.age_outside_range (>60)You can’t get the SRD grant because you’re older
than 60. However, you might be able to get the grant for older
people.age_outside_range (<18)You’re too young to get the SRD grant because
you’re not 18 yet. Your caregiver may apply for the child support
grant.deceased_record_on_DHAThe Department of Home Affairs lists you as
deceased. Once deceased, you can’t claim the SRD grant, but your dependents
may.referred_linked_risk_mobileSASSA suspects fraudulent activity from the
cellphone number used in your application.referred_safpsSASSA found out that
your name is on a list of people who have committed fraud, kept by the South
African Fraud Prevention Services.

If you see any reasons from the above table you can apply for reconsideration.
If you do not know the reconsideration process let’s discuss it in detail

HOW TO APPEAL FOR YOUR DECLINED SASSA SRD GRANT

You can appeal the decision if your application for the SASSA SRD (Social Relief
of Distress) grant is rejected. A separate team, the Independent Tribunal for
Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA), handles appeals. If SASSA declines your
application, you need to ask for an appeal no later than 90 days.

1. VISIT THE DSD WEBSITE

First, go to the SASSA Appeals Website.

2. INITIATE APPEAL PROCESS

Press the button that says “Click here to request an appeal or see appeal
status“.

3. PROVIDE PERSONAL INFORMATION

Type in your 13-number South African ID and the phone number SASSA has for you.
They will text you a PIN code.

4. ENTER PIN

Enter the PIN received via SMS on the website.

5. SELECT REJECTED GRANT MONTH

Choose the month for which your SRD grant was rejected. Submit separate appeals
for each rejected month.

6. ATTACH DOCUMENTS

Upload documents such as the last six months’ bank statements, proof of
residence, and ID.

7. STATE REASON FOR APPEAL

Clearly articulate the reason for your appeal in a concise manner.

8. SUBMIT APPEAL

After attaching documents and stating your reason, submit the appeal form.

REVIEW AND DECISION

After you send in your appeal, ITSAA will look at it. They will decide in 2 to 3
months. If the appeal is successful, the decision of SASSA will be overturned,
and you will start receiving SRD grant payments. If ITSAA says no to your
appeal, they will let you know.

UNDERSTANDING SASSA STATUS FAILURES – REASONS AND SOLUTION

If your SASSA status check displays “Failed” or “Identity Verification Failed,”
it indicates an issue verifying your identity, potentially delaying your SRD
R350 grant approval. Let’s talk about why your SASSA status might show a problem
and what you can do to fix it.

1. IDENTITY VERIFICATION FAILED

Incorrect information entry or typos can lead to identity verification failure.
SASSA validates your details with databases like the Department of Home Affairs.

Solution

Update your application on the SASSA portal in the following way:

 * Visit the SASSA web portal.
 * Tell SASSA your 13-number South African ID and the cell phone number you gave
   them before.
 * Verify the OTP received.
 * Review and correct your information.
 * Resubmit your application details.

2. INCOMPLETE APPLICATION

Failure to complete the entire form during submission can result in a status
check failure.

Solution

Follow the same steps as identity verification failure resolution.

3. TECHNICAL ERROR

Server problems or maintenance on the SASSA website may cause status check
failures.

Solution

 * Verify your application details on the SASSA portal.
 * Wait 6 to 12 hours and recheck.

If the problem doesn’t disappear, ask SASSA to review your application again by
sending an appeal.

UNDERSTANDING SASSA STATUS PENDING

If your SASSA status remains pending after applying for grants, there’s no
immediate cause for concern. Many people applied, so SASSA needs more time to
look at every application carefully.

When your status says “pending”, it means SASSA got your application but needs
more time to check it. This doesn’t imply rejection but signifies the need for
further assessment before approval or rejection.

REASONS FOR PENDING STATUS

Your application may be pending due to the following:

 * High application volume, causing processing delays.
 * Verify against databases like the Department of Home Affairs, SARS, UIF,
   NSFAS, etc.
 * Fraud risk assessment using a fraud risk scoring system.

MOVING FROM PENDING TO APPROVED – SOLUTION

To speed up your application process, you can go through the following steps:

 1. Contact SASSA via WhatsApp
Message SASSA at 082 046 8553 with your application ID for an update.
 2. Call SASSA Toll-Free
Dial 0800 60 10 11 to inquire about your application status.
 3. Visit the Local SASSA Office
Personally visit your local SASSA office with relevant documents for an
    update on your application.

Understanding the reasons behind the pending status and taking quick steps can
help speed up the approval process for your SASSA grant application. Also, it’s
important to note that your SASSA application approval timeline may extend up to
90 days.

SASSA RECONSIDERATION STATUS CHECK

If you faced any of the above-mentioned issues regarding the sassa status and
applied for fixation, SASSA gives you access to check the status of the
reconsideration application. The process works in the following ways:

1. VISIT THE RECONSIDERATION STATUS CHECK PAGE

Go to the SASSA Reconsideration Status Check page

2. ENTER PERSONAL INFORMATION

Type in your South African ID number and the cell phone number when you ask
SASSA to review your application again.

3. RECEIVE AND ENTER OTP

Click “send pin” and wait for the one-time code to be texted to the phone number
SASSA has for you. Enter this OTP on the website.

4. VIEW STATUS

Once the OTP is verified, your reconsideration status will be displayed on the
screen.

It is important to note that the reconsideration period for applications
submitted from May 2020 to March 2022 has concluded. You can’t send in any more
applications at this time. But you can check how your appeal is going by
following the steps we discussed.

UPDATING CONTACT DETAILS FOR THE SASSA R350 GRANT

SASSA also allows updating your data at any stage. If you need to update your
phone number or other contact details for the R350 grant, here’s what to do:

1. GO TO SASSA’S WEBSITE

First, Open this link by clicking on the SASSA Website.

2. PROVIDE PERSONAL INFORMATION

Fill the blank spaces with your South African ID number and the ID number for
your application.

3. SUBMIT FORM

Check your information again to make sure it’s right. Then, send in the form.

4. CHECK YOUR EMAIL AND GIVE NEW PHONE NUMBER

Check your email to make sure it’s right. Then type in your new phone number.

5. PICK WHY YOU’RE CHANGING IT

Choose why you need to change your phone number.

website to show it’s your number.

Once updated, you’ll receive future SRD grant updates on your new phone number.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR BANK INFO FOR THE SRD R350 GRANT?

Along with updating your contact information, you can change the banking details
of your SASSA grant. It is essential to change when you feel suspicious activity
or forget information about your bank account. The grant money can’t be put into
someone else’s bank account. Upon verification, grant payments will be directed
to your updated bank account.

South African citizens and people with Asylum Seeker or Special Permit status
who get the SASSA SRD R350 grant all the time can change their bank info, but
they have to do it in slightly different ways. But your bank account and mobile
phone number must be in your name.

Here’s what to do to change your bank details:

STEPS FOR PEOPLE WITH SOUTH AFRICAN ID CARDS

If you hold a South African ID Card, follow these steps:

1. VISIT THE SASSA OFFICIAL WEBSITE

First, Go to the SASSA Website.

to press that.

3. WRITE YOUR ID NUMBER

you.

5. GIVE NEW BANK INFO

Press on the special link. This will let you type in your new bank account

Wait for SASSA to approve your updated banking information.

STEPS FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS AND PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL PERMITS

For people seeking asylum and people with special permits, the steps are a
little different:

1. GO TO THE SASSA WEBSITE

First, open the SASSA Website on your computer or phone.

2. FIND THE SPECIAL PERMIT SECTION

Look for the section called “Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders“. In that
section, find the words “click here to proceed”. Tap or click on those words.
