About Brad

After a dozen years serving in the New York City Council representing the 39th
District in Brooklyn, Brad Lander was elected as the next NYC Comptroller on
November 2nd. A community planner with 15 years experience in affordable housing
and community development, Brad was a progressive leader in the City Council,
passing groundbreaking legislation to protect tenants, expand workers rights,
and bring accountability and transparency to city agencies.

BRAD’S PRIORITIES

Rebuild a More Equitable Economy
Brad is working to secure a strong and inclusive recovery by ensuring we are
budgeting wisely and investing strategically to rebuild an economy that works
for all New Yorkers, starting by bringing transparency and accountability to
federal rescue spending.

Hold NYC Government Accountable
As NYC's "Chief Accountability Officer" Brad focuses on making city agencies
work better, including a keen focus on auditing for gender and racial justice to
tackle glaring disparities which threaten the long-term prosperity of New York
City’s families, neighborhoods, and economy. 

Secure NYC’s Future
The job of the Comptroller is to take the long-term view on our city and invest
in a more equitable and sustainable future, for public sector retirees, for our
city finances, for our infrastructure, and for our neighborhoods. Brad brings
all the tools of the office to bear on confronting the climate crisis, which
poses the most serious long-term risks to our city.
