I AM MICHAEL PAPINUTTO

I am a Ph.
| MORE ABOUT ME

Far better an approximate answer to the right question, which is often vague,
than an exact answer to the wrong question, which can always be made precise.

ABOUT ME

I am Michael Papinutto. I am currently working at the Swiss Federal Statistical
Office, while pursuing sporadic collaborations with the Visual and Social
Neuroscience unit and Human-IST institute at the University of Fribourg as a
postdoctoral fellow. Previously, I had a position of postdoctoral fellow in the
Department of Psychology at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.

I hold a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Univsersity of Fribourg, completed in
2021. My thesis examined eye-movements in the laboratory and in the real world,
using gaze-contingent technics.

Projects I am engaged in are at the intersection of environmental psychology and
human-computer interaction, involving both psychology and human-building
interaction aspects and seek to assess the psychological traits involved in
indoor comfort and the interaction with automated systems. More specifically,
the main goals of my research target a finer tuning of the visual environment to
on the one hand satisfy all occupants and on the other save energy.

MY SKILLS

Research implies a wide range of skills from writing to programming. I always
aim at improving these skills. Currently, I put a lot of efforts into the
perfection of my abilities in bayesian statistical analysis

SERVICES

DATA ANALYSIS CONSULTATION

Since my bachelor studies I provide help with statistics. I am now able to
provide a complete workflow of statistical analysis using a various range of
method from frequentist to bayesian modelling.

INDOOR VISUAL COMFORT OPTIMIZATION

Thanks to numerous research on visual comfort, I can deliver useful tips and
tricks to adapt light according to activity or room to optimize visual comfort
and save energy.

METHODOLOGICAL ADVICE FOR HUMAN EXPERIMENT

Thanks to my interdisciplinar background, I can provide advice on the conduction
of experiments. Specifically, I would be happy to help computer scientists to
set up complex methodology to assess their needs.
