THE FEAR OF GOD

BY LUKE BABB | 44 MINS AGO

Who do I find the gods that fill my life now so restful? They are terrifying. The
kindest of them is streaked with blood and prone to fits of violence. Their
characters are complicated and often petty, their stories filled with the sorts
of vengeance that humans can only feint at. Which is why I trust them. At least
they’re honest about it.

BY THE WILD HUNT | FEBRUARY 8, 2024

Act, House of Black Cat Magic shares first episode, festivals updates and
events.

EDITORIALS AND ANALYSIS

 * EDITORIAL: WILL 2024 BRING MORE SPIRITUAL VIOLENCE?

   By Manny Moreno

TWH's editor-in-chief, Manny Tejeda Moreno, looks forward to 2024 through a
review of the documentary "The Mission," whose story of a Christian
missionary killed by an uncontacted tribe unwilling to be converted portends
a continued rise in spiritual violence.

 * THE BEST OF THE WEEKEND SECTION, 2023

   By Eric O. Scott

Weekend Editor Eric O. Scott reviews the best of the weekend section from
2023's offerings in The Wild Hunt, including the most popular article of the
year, Meg Elison's "Barbie is the new Inanna."

PAGAN LIVING

 * CALAMITIES IN PAGAN CINEMA: “THE COVENANT” (2006)

   By Meg Elison

"The Covenant" seemed like it was made to be the boys' own answer to "The
Craft." But the film is too caught up in its own broken masculinity to begin
to offer a coherent vision of magic - much less a coherent film.

 * “THAT’S FOR REMEMBRANCE” – A RECIPE FOR GARLIC AND ROSEMARY LAMB

   By Siobhan Ball

Siobhan Ball explores the folklore and science behind rosemary's ties to
memory, and also offers a recipe for garlic and rosemary lamb.

PAGAN PERSPECTIVES

 * LEANING INTO IMBOLC: A FOCUS ON HEARTH AND HOME

   By Sheri Barker

Brigid’s influence here is far-reaching, as is the gentle determination of
her spirit. I believe that it is her nature to be more pleased by action than
by words or acts of worship, and across the many forms she takes or names she
holds, she is aware and approving of the renewal of interest in what some
   consider a simpler life.

 * HONORING OUR PEERS – A LOOK BEHIND “THE WITCHIES!”

   By Storm Faerywolf

Storm Faerywolf talks about how The Witchcraft and Occult Media Awards - The
Witchies! - came to be and invites TWH readers to participate in voting for
the best in Witchy and occult media.

ANCIENT CULTURES

 * “WE ARE CHILDREN OF THE SUN”: NEW EXHIBIT HONORS MEXICA COYOLXĀUHQUI STONE

   By Manny Moreno

A new exhibit in Mexico City honors the discovery of the stunning
Coyolxāuhqui Stone, which tells the myth of the Mexica goddess of the moon.

 * PAGAN COMMUNITY NOTES: WEEK OF APRIL 10, 2023

   By The Wild Hunt

In this week's Pagan Community Notes, we remember Rachel Pollack, the
Parliament of World Religion repudiates Doctrine of Discovery, announcements,
   and more news

TAROT OF THE WEEK

Deck: The Witches’ Wisdom Tarot, by Phyllis Curott, artwork by Danielle Barlow,
published by Hay House.

Card:Seven (7) of Fire – Benevolence

The next seven days hold the potential to offer up the insight necessary for
moving forward with integrity and conviction. There may also be elements of
transformation that reflect self-determination and inner strength and lead to
healing past issues and wounds.

Conversely, challenges abound that are unlikely to be resolved by embracing a
path forward that utilizes brute strength or angry combativeness.
