DC3 Cyber Training Academy provides such training, accessible virtually anywhere and at any time. LEARN MORE REAL–WORLD TRAINING ELIGIBILITY DOD service member, active duty, civilian, Reserve or National Guard on Title 10 status IN-RESIDENCE AND ONLINE Students attend in-residence courses at the new DC3 Cyber Training Academy in Hanover, Md. Online training is delivered on the Academy portal (Learn.dcita.edu), where students can access an array of educational resources, tools and technologies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From computer hardware fundamentals to advanced forensic concepts, the DC3 Cyber Training Academy provides students with the skills needed to meet mission goals in the cyber environment. Our Academy’s training prepares DOD personnel in cyber-force specialty areas with the knowledge and expertise to utilize various tools and techniques to investigate, audit, defend, monitor, detect, analyze, and mitigate threats to DOD networks and information technology systems. FOCUS AREAS The curriculum focuses on forensics, technologies, intelligence, and tools, and trains students in areas such as: * Digital media examination on multiple operating system platforms in a lab environment or a deployed setting * Network intrusion basics and log analysis * Successfully installing software such as OpenVAS and Network Mapper in a Linux environment to assess network vulnerabilities * Collecting and analyzing digital evidence, spanning varying levels of operational and technical complexity * First-response fundamentals, basic cyber investigative practices and tools (like EnCase Forensic), and cyber investigation unit management CERTIFICATION In addition to the Academy’s certifications, the successful completion of select courses enables certain military personnel to be eligible for an Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) to their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). CUSTOM TECHNOLOGIES FOR STUDENTS TRAINING ANYWHERE, ANYTIME Students with a computer and an internet connection can access training on the Academy portal at any time from virtually anywhere in the world, and complete coursework at their own pace and on their own time. CYBER RANGE AND SIMULATION Students can take advantage of hands-on learning resources through virtualized access to software tools, multiple operating systems and complex training environments such as enterprise-level networks. KNOWLEDGE ENVIRONMENT The DC3 Cyber Training Academy provides learning resources ranging from traditional courses and continuous learning options such as webinars, tutorials and blogs, to social learning through user community interaction. FOR MANAGERS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT Managers can use tools on the Academy portal to identify courses aligned with their personnel’s training requirements, approve course requests, monitor student progress and review student learning history. CUSTOMIZED STUDENT LEARNING Managers can develop individualized learning plans and curriculum paths that are tailored to meet the specific training needs of their personnel. DETAILED REPORTING Managers can generate reports on a number of specific student performance metrics, including learning history, training accomplishments and measures of student competency in specific task areas. Earning these certificates documents the student’s ability to respond to, image, process and analyze digital evidence and to properly document findings. *ARMY MI/ARMY INSCOM students must have credentials verified by CDTI Training Program Manager before being eligible for certification. *ARMY CID (USACIDC) students must have credentials verified by organizational POC before being eligible for certification. DC3/CTA received initial COE accreditation in 2007. This effort is in accordance with Department of Defense (DOD) Directive 5124.7, which calls for all DOD civilian education and professional development activities to meet the standards established by accreditation agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Established in 1998, DC3/CTA develops and delivers real-world training to DOD service members, active duty, civilian, Reserve or National Guard on Title 10 status. DC3/CTA’s mission is to provide cyber investigation training to individuals and DOD elements that must ensure Defense information systems are secure from unauthorized use, counterintelligence, criminal and fraudulent activities. DC3/CTA is dedicated to cyber investigations training development and delivery. Students are trained in the latest computer forensic techniques using state-of-the-art equipment, classrooms and technologies. DC3/CTA offers courses in the following disciplines: network operations and investigations; cyber intelligence; incident response; digital forensics; core technologies; programming; and cyber protection training. COE is a national accrediting agency that is committed to assuring quality and integrity in career and workforce training.
