Just 7 hours of anesthesia with desflurane is the equivalent of a 15,700 km car journey in terms of emissions! The unique requirements of the healthcare sector (single use items, sterile packaging, vast volume supply chains) means that the industry has a hugely negative impact on the environment and 80% of Carbon emissions from the sector come from its supply chain. While all Medical and healthcare companies have an obligation to limit their environmental impact, this must be balanced by the regulatory requirements of the sector & commercial goals. There are 4 simple principles to MICE and applying these can bring practical changes to supply chains and have a really positive impact on emissions. M – Measure: If it’s not measured, it’s not managed! I – Investigate: Every organisation is different. Where are your environmental problem areas? C – Communicate: Effective communication is critical for sustainable success E – Engage: Work in collaboration with partners (manufacturers, sub-contractors, freight forwarders) for optimal results DONAL SULLIVAN CEO - COMPUCAL CALIBRATION SOLUTIONS "GO DIGITAL & MOBILE FOR COMPLEX WORKFLOWS" Speaker Bio Synopsis Donal Sullivan is CEO of CompuCal Calibration Solutions - SaaS calibration & maintenance management specialists.
