NOW FOR REAL: THE NEW K-TALK, WATER WITHOUT MICROPLASTICS, A PLASTICS INITIATIVE
AND MORE...

Dear Sir or Madam,

As an exception, you will receive the K monthly twice today, because recently
important links did not lead to the appropriate pages. We apologize for this.
Otherwise, everything remains as before:

We start the year with a concentrated load of expert knowledge. In the K-Talk,
industry experts, scientists and industry representatives discuss various topics
that move the plastics industry. Register directly for K-Talk and don't miss any
of the upcoming events.

By the way: The first talk will be about how plastics and climate protection can
be combined. Dr. Katrin Schuhen also discussed how the environment can be
protected despite the use of plastics. With her company, she has developed a
process that filters microplastics out of the water in municipal sewage
treatment plants. In the interview, she reveals what popcorn has to do with it.

Have fun listening and reading

MICROFLIERS: POLYMERS ON A MISSION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

They are the size of a grain of sand and resemble trundling maple seeds: the
flying microchips that researchers at Northwestern University have now
developed. Polymers play a fundamental role in this.

WAYS TO REMOVE MICROPLASTICS FROM WATER WITHOUT A FILTER

Plastic is an important material and a virtually irreplaceable component in many
products. However, the breakdown and disposal of plastics after use also goes
along with microplastics. At the end of its life cycle, plastic material first
ends up in the environment and then comes back to us. That is why it is
imperative to thwart the spread of microplastic pollution. It is also the stated
goal of the non-profit company Wasser 3.0.

"WE ARE PLASTIC" – AN INITIATIVE FOR THE CONSCIOUS USE OF RESOURCES

"There is a lot of talk about the plastics industry, but too little talk with
it," says the website of the German "Wir sind Kunststoff" ("We are plastic")
initiative, which was launched in mid-May 2021. It sees itself as a dialog
platform for the industry on socially relevant aspects relating to plastics. To
this end, seven trade associations and an umbrella organization pool their
expertise and approach the public together as the faces of the industry.

USING CIRCULAR ECONOMY PRINCIPLES TO RECYCLE TOYS

Many of us are familiar with this scene in our children's bedrooms: when the
kids have outgrown their toys, the latter typically get boxed up until we
finally take heart and purge them. But it doesn't have to be that way: the
initiative of the HolyPoly company takes recycling steps to create new toys –
that look slightly different.
