DOT URINE SPECIMEN COLLECTOR TRAINING

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This course includes mock collections, scenario training, and initial training
supplies. Certificates are valid in the United States, Canada, and any country
that uses US DOT regulations. For the proficiency course without mock
collections or training supplies, click here.

Course Summary

DOT Urine Specimen Collector Training will take approximately 8-hours to
complete, including the mandatory mock collections. Training is user-friendly
and designed by leading drug testing expert and attorney Andrew Easler, and is
made for a wide audience, including new urine specimen collectors, DOT-regulated
employers, and third-party testing sites that must adhere to rigorous drug
screening compliance, such as, but not limited to, urgent care centers,
chiropractors, and other healthcare facilities who wish to conduct DOT-regulated
drug screening.

Training learners with techniques and regulations surrounding drug testing,
ensuring training is in compliance with the Department of Transportation's 49
CFR Part 40.33 regulations, which also required hands-on learning via virtual
mock collections. These include the five dry mock collections that cover the
most common scenarios collectors are likely to encounter while performing urine
specimen collections, providing a practical and real-world perspective to the
training.

We provide an easy-to-understand set of training materials and an online course
that provides the practical aspects of the collection and allows learners to
absorb and reinforce theoretical knowledge at their own pace, with training
being designed to marry theoretical understanding with practical application,
preparing learners for real-world tasks.

In addition to the initial qualification to collect urine under DOT protocols
and chain of custody, qualified collectors must enroll in mandatory
recertification every five years. This recertification training ensures that all
qualified urine specimen collectors remain up-to-date, enhancing the accuracy
and integrity of drug testing procedures over time and reducing fatal flaws.

Register for DOT Urine Specimen Collector Training using our online platform
that features engaging virtual mock collections, or if you prefer a more
hands-on approach, consider our on-site training option, and for organizations
desiring to incorporate this course into their in-house training, we offer
licensable courseware that can be smoothly integrated into any third-party
learning system.

Course Description

DOT Urine Specimen Collector Training guides learners through the Department of
Transportation’s 49 CFR Part 40.33 requirements, so they can properly perform
DOT-regulated urine specimen collections.

As an employer or third-party testing site that performs drug testing for
DOT-regulated sectors, such training is essential for maintaining a safe and
productive environment and ensuring your organization's stringent adherence to
all drug and alcohol testing regulations under 40 CFR Part 40. This adherence to
drug screening compliance is fundamental in reducing potential lawsuits
resulting from compliance failures.

DOT guidelines dictate strict adherence to several safety and security protocols
to complete a urine specimen collection. Participants in this 8-hour course will
learn important topics such as the DOT collection process, handling procedures,
and regulatory requirements, including industry best practices for drug and
alcohol testing for employees regulated under the following agencies:

 * Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
 * Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
 * Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
 * Federal Transit Administration (FTA)
 * Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA)
 * United States Coast Guard (USCG)

A DOT Urine Specimen Collector plays a crucial role in the drug testing process
for DOT-regulated industries, ensuring that the collection and handling of urine
specimens follow DOT regulations. Becoming qualified with a reputable trainer is
essential for anyone looking to work in this field as it demonstrates a high
level of competency and expertise in DOT urine specimen collection procedures.

Training materials ship directly to the learner's home or work and include a
valuable guide to federal regulations on drug and alcohol testing and include
virtual mock demonstrations (mocks) conducted by webcam, and by being trained
properly by an experienced and qualified instructor to can minimize legal risks
and fostering a culture of safety and compliance within the workplace.

Training Objectives

The objective of the DOT Urine Specimen Collector Training is to equip learners
with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully and flawlessly conduct a
urine specimen collection in accordance with the Department of Transportation's
(DOT) 49 CFR Part 40 guidelines for collection. Learners will also learn how to
effectively utilize the provided resources when conducting a drug screening
collection and develop familiarity with industry-specific vocabulary, acronyms,
and other jargon commonly used in the field.

Training Goals:

 * Understanding DOT Guidelines: Learners will gain a comprehensive
understanding of the DOT's 49 CFR Part 40 guidelines for urine specimen
collection. They will be able to interpret and apply these guidelines
   accurately throughout the collection process.

 * Proficient Collection Techniques: Learners will learn and practice the proper
techniques for urine specimen collection, ensuring accurate and reliable
results. They will become skilled in the entire collection process, including
preparing the collection area, ensuring privacy and security, following chain
of custody procedures, and documenting relevant information accurately.

 * Utilizing Resources for Drug Screening: Learners will be familiarized with
the various resources available for drug screening, such as collection kits,
testing equipment, and documentation forms. They will learn how to
effectively use these resources to ensure proper handling, storage, and
transportation of specimens, maintaining the integrity of the testing
   process.

 * Industry-Specific Vocabulary and Acronyms: Learners will develop a solid
understanding of industry-specific vocabulary, acronyms, and jargon commonly
used in the field of urine specimen collection. They will be able to
communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders,
   using appropriate terminology and abbreviations.

 * Chain of Custody Procedures: Learners will learn and understand the
importance of chain of custody procedures in urine specimen collection. They
will learn how to maintain a secure and documented process from the moment
the specimen is collected until it reaches the laboratory for testing. This
includes proper labeling, sealing, handling, and documentation to ensure
   legal defensibility and accuracy.

 * Compliance and Ethical Considerations: Learners will be educated on the
importance of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and compliance with relevant
regulations and legal requirements in urine specimen collection. They will
learn to recognize potential ethical dilemmas and handle them appropriately
   while maintaining professionalism and integrity.

By the end of the training, learners will have acquired the necessary skills and
knowledge to conduct urine specimen collections under DOT guidelines,
effectively utilize available resources during drug screening, understand chain
of custody procedures, and communicate using industry-specific vocabulary and
acronyms. They will be well-prepared to perform their roles as DOT urine
specimen collectors with confidence, accuracy, and adherence to the highest
ethical standards.
