HOW IT WORKS

Go solo or grab some mates and challenge yourself to 3,139 push-ups over 24 days
in June.
Aim for 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the push-up target. You can spread them out
across the day.
Alternatives such as sit-ups, squats or tailored exercises are also welcome!

HELP SHINE A SPOTLIGHT ON THE NUMBER OF AUSTRALIANS WHO DIED BY SUICIDE IN 2020.



GET FIT

Challenge yourself to complete 3,139 push-ups over 24 days in June.

You can aim for 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the push-up target. Other exercise
alternatives are welcome. Complete your push-ups any time and any place. Track
push-ups using our phone app.





LEARN ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH

Each day, you will learn about mental health as the push-up target relates to a
vital mental health statistic in Australia.

For example, 135 push-ups because one recent analysis of scientific evidence
suggests that three 45-minute exercise sessions per week (135 minutes total) is
enough to provide anti-depressant benefits to mental health.



HAVE FUN

Take part solo or with a group. Having a bunch of friends involved helps with
the motivation and banter. You can sign up as a team or get your entire
workplace, gym, sports club, school involved by creating a Community.

Join hundreds of thousands of people across Australia in the push for
better mental health.




MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO MENTAL HEALTH AND SUICIDE PREVENTION

Use your challenge to fundraise for one of three beneficiaries; Lifeline,
Movember, or our own charity Push For Better.
Fundraising is optional but is a great chance to support critical mental health
services across Australia.



The Push For Better Foundation runs The Push-Up Challenge and aims to raise
awareness, engage and educate people and raise funds for mental health.




Lifeline provides all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to
24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services via phone, text and
webchat.




Movember is a leading charity changing the face of men’s health and they’re
taking on mental health and suicide prevention in a big way, to stop men from
dying too young.

OUR FOUNDER: NICK'S STORY

Five years ago, Nick and a small group of mates decided they needed to get back
into shape for summer. So the challenge was set - 3,000 push-ups in a month, no
excuses.

From these early beginnings, the event has grown year on year. In 2019, Nick
experienced depression before and after major open heart surgery.

While recovering with time off work and needing a focus, he threw his heart and
soul into making The Push-Up Challenge a bigger event that could make a
difference – to raise awareness and funds for mental health.

The Push-Up Challenge is now Australia’s largest mental health and fitness
initiative, with over 174,000 Australians from all walks of life joining the
push for better.
