Inside Airbnb releases a new report for the City of Dallas which shows
continuing growth, that entire homes and absentee "hosts" still dominate the
platform, and significant impact on rental housing, especially at the
neighborhood level. We also look at short-term rentals compared to CPC
Recommended Zoning for STRs.

to protect housing.

A year later, we look at damning new research on the impact of Airbnb in New
York City and talk about the response to the Airbnb Racial Gentrification study,
in particular how Airbnb reacted to the research.

March 1, 2017

In this study about Airbnb's role in (racial) gentrification, Inside Airbnb
found that in New York City's predominantly Black neighborhoods, white hosts own
the majority of listings and receive most of the economic benefits, while
long-term Black residents are most impacted by the loss of housing and
neighborhood disruption.

In December 2015, Airbnb made data "public" about its business in New York City,
with much fanfare. This report shows that the Airbnb data release misled the
media and the public.
