Washington, August 31, 2023

Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on
Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation, released the
following statement after President Biden announced a 5.2 percent average pay
raise for federal employees in 2024.

“Today’s announcement is great news. While not quite what Senator Schatz and I
called for in our FAIR Act, a 5.2 percent average pay raise is the highest since
the Carter Administration and will help us recruit and retain the federal
workforce of tomorrow. I applaud President Biden and his Administration for
recognizing and taking care of our nation’s greatest asset – our dedicated,
patriotic federal employees.”
