Through the Green Deal, the EU is taking action to fight climate change and encourage all citizens to work towards a greener and more sustainable Europe. Education for environmental sustainability is key to this, helping citizens and local communities to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for this transition. In its response to the public consultation seeking views and ideas on education for environmental sustainability, EuroHealthNet highlighted the need for policymakers to encourage, enable and up-skill citizens to make more sustainable choices, as well as to focus on underrepresented groups, ensuring that they are included and empowered. EuroHealthNet also underlined the need for interconnected education on environment and health, and for more funding to support education and training institutions and the non-formal sector to tackle environmental and sustainability issues. The full consultation response is available here.
