ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The Portland Business Journal has expanded its popular Executive of the Year
program to honor collaborative leadership, honoring not just top executives, but
outstanding C-Suite leaders. If you know someone that you think would be
deserving of this honor, we’d like to hear about them.

The nominee must be the work for a company that's either based in Oregon or S.W.
Washington or have a significant presence in the local market. 

Selections will be made based on critical strategy, guidance and management
leading to exceptional performance during the 2021 calendar year by a panel of
outside judges. That could include dramatic revenue growth,
global expansion, key strategic direction shifts, transformative
acquisitions, major strategic fundraising rounds setting the company up for
future growth, or other events leading to the transformation and outperformance
of the organization. 

 

Applicants must be C-level executives or the equivalent.

*Titles may include but are not limited to:  

 1. Chief Executive Officer, or top officer of the company 

 2. President 

 3. Chief Financial Officer 

 4. Chief Human Resource Officer 

 5. Chief Operating Officer 

 6. Chief Marketing Officer 

 7. Chief Legal Officer or General Counsel 

 8. Chief Technology Officer / Chief Information Officer 

 9. Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer 

 10. Chief Sustainability Officer

 11. Executive Director of a Nonprofit

 12.  

*Additional Qualifications

 

1. Excluding CEOs/Presidents, the nominees must report to the CEO.  

2. The nominee must conduct business predominantly in the Portland Metro Area.
The event will be held in-person and we ask that all honorees attend the
event.  

3. An honoree must be in the role for 2 years to be eligible and may not win
again within a 3-year span, with the following exceptions:

- Has moved into a different position (eligible after 2 years in that position)
or

- Has moved to a new company (eligible after 2 years in that position)

4. You may self-nominate.  

5. If a nominee’s title includes more than one title, please indicate which
title best reflects their main responsibilities. 

6. A letter of reference from the CEO is required for all nominees except CEOs.
