Francis, 29, who owns 70 per cent of the Solihull-based company, valued at more than £1 billion last August, said he had been planning to return for two years after Steve Hewitt, the existing chief executive, indicated that a change was needed. “[Hewitt] genuinely said that he didn’t think he was the right person to take Gymshark to the next level. He said I was the right person,” Francis said in a video posted on the company’s social media.
