The Met West Team played 5-days of Rugby League. They won the grand final, the
single relays and team relays. This is the first time in 60 years a team has won
all three events - an amazing outcome for our boys. Without the assistance of
the Rūnanga my son would not have been able to compete in such an amazing event
so thank you again. It was an honour to attend as a delegate. I have been to
many places and many conferences but this event has a very special place in my
heart. It has really helped my personal development as a young Māori woman and
deepened my self-discovery. Sometimes we are so busy thinking about our
professional development that sometimes we forget about ourselves in the process
while trying to look out for others.

This experience continues to mold me as a young leader as I carry on along my
journey. I look forward to sharing this experience with others and I hope that
in the near future we can get more young people from our communities attending
this forum because it really is life-changing. I am so proud to be Ngāpuhi. I
love sharing the fact that I have you guys backing me in everything I do
- enabling opportunites for young Ngāpuhi such as myself.

with funding Caelym's trip to the New Zealand National U15  Basketball
tournament in Dunedin last week. Your contribution allowed him to experience a
completely new level of basketball and that has encouraged him to lift his game
for next year's tournament. His passion and focus for basketball has only
intensified since he has come home - but he understands that getting good grades
in his school work is just as important.

Due to Alana's outstanding performance at the U14 National Talent Camp earlier
this year, she was selected for the Development team to tour Melbourne in June.
Alana said she loves to play basketball - her other sporting achievements
include being selected for the NZ Basketball Academy tour of Las Vegas and the
Michael Jordan camp in In she was awarded the Hustler Award and was a
representative for the Girls Basketball Association U13 Nationals.

In May they achieved some great results at the Barnwell Golf Course in Sydney.
Kai and his partner won their games; Anahera and her partner won their match. We
are looking forward to the Australian Open in January next year, which is likely
to be at Riverside Oaks Gold Resort, Sydney. The months leading up to the Cup
competition - participating in the South Island U19s Tournament, the Club
Pennants and NZ Golf Order of Merit Events - contributed to how well Kai and
Anahera played.

Playing at the international tournament level gives them the opportunity to test
themselves against world class competition. Having decided to do the Great Wall
of China Marathon as a challenge and to also prove to my daughter Raiha that you
can do anything you put your mind to, I trained hard and as often as I could for
52 weeks. There were 88 kiwis that took part in the marathon - we called
ourselves the 'Influence Crew'. Although I didn't complete the tortuous 35
kilometres in the 6 hours cut-off time - I did finish it, in 7 hours and 4
minutes.

I am extremely proud of my efforts and so are my family and friends.

I set out to be the best role model for my daughter Raiha and to show her how
hard work, commitment and more hard work pays off. I am extremely proud to be a
Māori nō Ngāpuhi who represented New Zealand at this event. I am absolutely
humbled by the support from my iwi. What means more to me is the fact that you
have been able to see the potential that I have to really instigate change and
serve our community. I was blessed to be able to have the opportunity from 19
May to 5 June to travel with Ngā Aho and Te Matapihi to Canada and USA.

This included an Indigenous Housing Tour and The RAIC Festival of Architecture
conference - Indigenous Design Symposium. To have the opportunity to speak at
this symposium was one of the most amazing experiences in my life thus far.

Being able to whakapapa back to Ngāpuhi on an international stage first and
foremost has grounded me both physically and spiritually. I would not have been
half way around the world to share my knowledge without your support. The
funding that the Rūnanga has invested in me has highly contributed to my
personal development as a young Māori woman and leader. I will continue to share
my experiences and knowledge with other young leaders as I serve the next term
as an Auckland Youth Advisory Panel member for Papakura and complete my honours
degree in Landscape Architecture.

The hui was held during Queen's Birthday weekend. The funds provided,
enabled our group to witness the coming of age of our own young director Quianna
Titore of Omanaia. Her directorship allowed 'Natalie' to receive a prestige's
award for Māori film makers, where competition is at a peak. The journey was
long but the kaupapa was worthwhile and we hope to continue to allow our
taitamariki more opportunities to show their unique talents. So, this is a big
thank you to Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi O Ngāpuhi for making it happen.

This year Taitokerau have been given the honour to provide the official Pōwhiri
for the British and Irish Lions Rugby team at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds on
Sunday 4 June. The team only travels once every 10 to 12 years and the last time
they visited Aotearoa they were welcomed in Rotorua. Mori Rapana, Cultural
Manager for the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, said he was asked to pull together the
pōhiri, including coordinating the warriors, taua, kaikaranga and kaihoe who
will be involved in the event.

The pōhiri items include Te Ngeri a Kawiti, Tutungarahu, Ngāpuhi e and haka
pōhiri. Thank you Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi O Ngāpuhi for providing sponsorship
to support the kaupapa. We Haelyn's whānau wish to thank Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi O
Ngāpuhi personally for the Discretionary Funding she received recently which
assisted her to travel and compete at the Kenpo 5.

Kenpo is a mixed martial art system that focuses on self defence - learning
never stops. Haelyn did exceptionally well and we are very proud of her. She
trained hard over the last few months and this paid off for Haelyn. She achieved
first place in forms and sets, and came second in sparring. We are very grateful
and appreciative for your support that has helped Haelyn get one step closer to
her goal of competing at the Worlds in Las Vegas in I am writing on behalf of
myself and my whānau, to express our deepest gratitude for being awarded the
Ngāpuhi Doctoral Scholarship It is an absolute humbling experience to receive
this support from my iwi.

As an emerging academic, the teaching and learning journey within the formal
